I wouldn't call Timrå his hometown since he moved to Kuopio when he was one year old.More like he decided to sign there because it's his hometown team and his dad is GM.
Kind of hoping get him use to NA iceI believe a few solid European sources (Bexell?) have said he'd sign with Timra so these transfer agreement clauses kick in and then would sign with MTL this summer. So this is just the first shoe to drop.
Thanks. So...don't sign him.Prospect Info: - Oliver Kapanen, RHC, KalPa U20 (U20 SM-sarja), 64th Overall
I haven't seen him play but reading comments here, I'm wondering if we don't have a new version of Lehkonen in Kapanen. He could be kind of a glue player, who could play anywhere in the lineup and make it work. Wasn't Lehkonen used by Canadiens like that too? Playing with someone like Kapanen...forums.hfboards.com

Nail Yakupov had star potential, he just didn't put it together.Exactly!
Nail Yakupov was a star and #1 OA pick and a shoe in and a 1st line beast etc etc etc and he ended up proving absolutely nothing!
Your reasoning that Kappy will be an NHL shoe in and will fit perfectly on our 3rd line is what's absurd!
Ridiculous. If Bedard had been European he would have been behind Dvorak because he hadn't played in the NHL. Teams don't need to see a player in the NHL to know his potential.Exactly!

lol....you don't have to sign him till 2025. Kid has signed a 2-year contract in Europe. You don't need to sign him. You sign him next year.WTF?
Kapanen has a higher offensive ceiling than Beck. Beck might have the better career.
We won't know until Kapanen plays in NA. You know Beck plays in traffic, Kapanen needs to prove it.
Kapanen has played two full seasons against men and fnished the last playoffs with 14 points on 13 games.I don't think Kapanen has a higher ceiling than Beck. He seems to have a lot of decent skill, but no high end ones. Beck has a lot of decent skills as well, but he has a high end shot and high end skating.
I see Kapanen like a Lehkonen at best, and Beck like a Horvat at best.
Elite 4th line C --Make it so, Number One! Kapanen can be the 3rd line C instead.Kapanen has played two full seasons against men and fnished the last playoffs with 14 points on 13 games.
Beck still has not played against pros and we don't know how his offensive game will translate in pro hockey.
I have seen quite a bit of Beck the last two years. I don't think he will be play driving/point producer in the pros. I see him as a defensive/PK/Face off specialist.
Kapanen can also really shoot the puck.I don't think Kapanen has a higher ceiling than Beck. He seems to have a lot of decent skill, but no high end ones. Beck has a lot of decent skills as well, but he has a high end shot and high end skating.

Am i the only one who doesn't see Beck offence at all? I expect him to be a Jake Evans at best.I don't think Kapanen has a higher ceiling than Beck. Roy-Beck -Kapanen as a third line in a couple years.Kapanen can also really shoot the puck.
I think Kapanen could very well be a more offensively productive NHLer than Beck as he is more creative with the puck and a better playmaker and has better hands imo. Both kids can shoot the puck and while Beck is a little faster, Kapanen is a little bigger. They both have the potential to provide secondary offence and hopefully they both are able to fill important middle six roles in Montreal some day.
