Beauchemin was basically a pit bull in addition to being fearless and a huge hitter he also won most of his fights. Zellweger is basically Troy Terry on defense

I say that as a positive thing but those comparing him to Beauchemin should just stopSick.

You must not have seen Zellwagon lately. Zellweger is built like a fire hydrant at this point.Beauch was built like a tree trunk, and so far Zell is like an iron rod.

I think he looks strong for what he is, but I don't really see the fire hydrant thing as much as you do. There's some obvious muscle there and a good physique overall. And maybe/probably it improves even more. You must not have seen Zellwagon lately. Zellweger is built like a fire hydrant at this point.
Iginla is like 45. Might be doable in a year or three.I won't buy it until Zellweger drops Iginla with a left jab.
He was measured at 5`11, 187 at the WJC, which should be his latest measurement.
That being said, I don't buy those comparisons with Beauch. He was a different kind of an animal

I think the comp to Beauch was just purely from a height standpoint. I don't think anyone expects him to have the physical impact that Frankie did. Hopefully Warren pans out to give him some physicality to skate alongside with.I say that as a positive thing but those comparing him to Beauchemin should just stop
Yes it is just based on height. Beauch was not as tall as how i used to think he was.I think the comp to Beauch was just purely from a height standpoint. Listed as 6'1 but might be 5'11 is what I have thought about McTavish sometimesYes it is just based on height. Beauch was not as tall as how i used to think he was.
They used to have him listed as 6'1 but then it changed to 5'11 on NHL.com after he retired.
So its like after he retired he didn't mind his real height being listed.
The opposite was true of someone i knew, She was like 6'0 but liked to say 5'11.Listed as 6'1 but might be 5'11 is what I have thought about McTavish sometimes
I would be very surprised if he was actually 6'1. He's around 5'11, maybe 6'0 on a good day.Listed as 6'1 but might be 5'11 is what I have thought about McTavish sometimes

Didn't the Ducks keep him out of all preseason games last year because he was so allergic to contact? Based on that it would shock me if they wanted to keep him on the roster now. I'm not sure the Ducks would help the kid much by doing that. He'd miss the WHL start and he'd get run over over and over again playing NHL.I am starting to wonder...
Zell had a dominant year in the WHL as a D+1 and his only options now are either WHL or NHL. That leaves me to wonder if the Ducks would be extra motivated to give him a spot for a few games on the big club. Pending his performance in the preseason of course, but our ''Big5'' on the D (whether you like it or not, Shattenkirk and Kulikov are big pieces on the PK so I don't see them being taken out that simple) will stay in place. However, Vaak while being ok/good is not a staple on any special team, which could make it easier to scratch him. I love Benny with his physicality, shot-blocking, and PK'ing options, but he has been scratched before. And Mahura is not ideal on defense anyway, so I was wondering that even if we somehow avoid any injuries, there still might be a spot for Zellwagon for the first weeks of the season.
That would be incredible. But it's just a speculation ofc.
He has really bulked up visually. He might not be immovable out there, but his latest measurements put him in an identical size as Makar. Zell has the skating to elude most hits. He'd have to be careful near board battles of course, but I could see the Ducks giving his skating and puckhandling a chance IF all goes wellDidn't the Ducks keep him out of all preseason games last year because he was so allergic to contact?
