McDavid is an amazing player.

So is Quinn Hughes.

But Hughes was a f***ing shit Captain, and it looks like McDavid is cut from the same cloth. Superstar that doesn't care about anything but himself winning over his own teammates well being.
One guy took a pay cut to stay, the other ducked out as soon as he could. One delivers over and over in the playoffs - the other went out with a whimper.

If he acted differently you and the rest of your miserable lot would say “he doesn’t care about winning - the oilers are a country club.”

Canucks seems to avoid the criticism they deserve for being an absolute joke of an org. Hughes was right to leave them.

Just because you wish they are the same doesn’t make it so

Feels like if it works out it will look like a genius move but if it ends terribly it will look bad. But also maybe somewhere in between.

Give it a year with Babcock, McDavid might take a pay cut to leave.

People are doing a lot of mental gymnastics. A star hire got fired before coaching a game after showing little to no remorse for what had gotten him blacklisted in the first place. It's not hard to see what happened given what we know (and now that there was apparently another incident with Laine). A perpetual line-stepper yet again went over the line and couldn't even last on a team that we constantly hear about having culture problems.

Anyone who works in a professional environment knows that asking an underling to hand over their phone is a gross violation of privacy, even the old folks.

I mean, do you think Babcock knows that’s where you keep all your D pics and snow bunny noods?

Hopefully the guys in the locker room know to keep their phones at home.

I think the best thing to do would to show up day one with a phone full of babcocks wife run through AI to put her in fantasy-like positions

I don’t know how to say this without goinover a dozen lines. You know what I mean

People are barking up the wrong tree thinking it is Crosby pushing Babcock to McDavid.

It's Hyman. He played with Babcock for four years and he loves him. When the Jackets almost hired Babcock, Hyman was texting Werenski about how good of a coach Babcock is.

Hyman is also the guy least likely to have family unfriendly stuff on his phone

Being a huge prick isn't in of itself grounds to be banned from the league. Not surprised by the decision.

And of course McDavid ok'd this hire. Wouldn't surprise me if he sees Babcock's asshole personality as a feature, not a bug. Coach is the bad cop to ride the bottom 6 / bottom pair guys that McDavid may want the heat turned up on but can't do himself.

Not saying it's right or reflects well on Connor, but could very well be the situation.

There's being a prick, and then there is a documented history of chronic targeted abuse towards vulnerable players in the league.

Sure, which was the basis of the investigation. But everything I've heard about Babcock's behavior strikes me as reasons Edmonton shouldn't hire him, not reasons Edmonton shouldn't be allowed to hire him if they so choose.

Well I hope McDavid is a real leader and sticks up for guys when they're getting harassed by this moron.
If what I’m reading about him supporting or even advocating for the hire (and please tell me if I’ve got my wires crossed) then he is attempting to lead by forcing this guy on his teammates. I mean, I guess McD has the “dude I vouched for you…” defense.

Some wild assumptions that Roslovic and Henrique are walking away due to Babcock, although I find that highly unlikely to be the case.

This shit looks like a horror movie poster.
Gary Gulman tour is coming to Edmonton?
