Wasn't Benning pretty good a few years ago? What happened?
He's fine. There are just limitations in his game that likely mean he won't be a regular in the top six next season with Evan Bouchard, Ethan Bear and Joel Persson pushing for possible roster spots.

Considering he's signed for $1.8m next season, he's a logical guy to put on the market today.

Fun fact: We've been through one expansion draft and people still don't understand that NMCs can be waived.

I guess theoretically he may prefer Seattle over Edmonton, though I doubt Seattle would even be compelled to take on that contract without some added incentives.

There 2 kinds of dead weight . The normal dead weight and Chia dead weight . One can be traded the other can't . Guess which one can be trade and I will give you a free Manning .

Not really news to me. The problem you mentioned was him needing to take up a protection slot. Not a problem.

Wow according to some Oilers fans Petrovic was a good player. My how that just slapped you right across the face.

The consensus 1/2 were Yakopuv or Murray. You must be new to hockey because how often has ANYBODY not taken a top-3 consensus player... look at the 2017 draft. Would you have NOT taken either Nico or Patrick 1/2 at the time? In hindsight the following players are better... but nobody is picking Miro or Elias #1 back then.

Then why Burke say he would have taken Reilly number one had they had the pick?

I know revisionist history makes things simple in hindsight but if the plan was to trade Hall as well why didn’t the Oilers grab Tkachuk. Big, gritty LW who can also score. Exactly what they needed and instead they pick Pool Party and sign Lucic to a gawd awful contract.

Fun fact; the Oilers will be forced to have Milan Lucic on their protected list in the next expansion draft.

How so ? They can buy him out with 2 years left and not worry about it
