GF 5v5 31
GF 4v4 2
GF 3v3 2
GA 5v5 34
GA 4v4 0
GA 3v3 1

So it's 35 vs 35. I don't see how the even strength numbers are adding up to +6.
You just asked for goal differential, I gave you all situations straight from NHL.com, I figured you of all people would be concerned about the end result since special teams goals count for exactly the same as ES when they check the score at the end of the game.

Or where you just looking for something to spin in a negative way?

Still got 5 of the last 6 possible points . You go back to Ullmark on Sat
Ullmark's never beaten Carolina so I'd put Forsberg in. If Forsberg plays really well and we win, then I'd ride him till he loses. If he plays so so, then put Ullmark in for Edm/Vegas games.

Those that had a terrible game tonight:
1 - Ullmark (no explanation needed).
2 - Sanderson - out of position a lot, screens our goalie.
3 - Kleven - needs to learn you don't pinch when you're up by 2 in the 3rd period. You also make sure that if you do pinch, someone can make it back in time.

As for the forwards, they need to consistently have net front presence when they have extended possession time in the Ozone. Same for the PP, so many times, no one's in front of the net.

Yep, no doubt.

Worst goalie performance I’ve seen in recent memory and that says a lot
In the LA game, Forsey allowed 3 goals on 9 shots then Soogard allowed 4 on 17 shots. So now, they've all had a stinker. If LA had gotten average goaltending, we would've lost that game. If Philly goalie played his current average (.850), we would've won this one.

That's irrelevant to what I said though. The deserve to win-o-meter for the Carolina game was 99% in their favor and they lost 4-1. We were at 82% but at we at least got a point, hence why we don't have to feel as bad as their fans
Doesn't bode well for us on Saturday. Carolina is very hard to beat at home and they'll be grumpy after that loss.

On a positive note, we played really, really well again. Team is coming together.

Not gonna lie though, not feeling amadio and mcgregor on pinto's wings. They'll have to produce some points
Maybe Perron plays tomorrow, he's travelling with the team. Would like to see the APP line reunited (Amadio, Pinto, Perron). They had some real chemistry before Pinto's injury and Perron's personal leave.

Just listened to Perron's media scrum today. I didn't realize he had been dealing with this since August, having to travel back and forth to Toronto. If his daughter is now recovering, he'll be able to get into game mode once he's back in game shape. He'll be rusty, that's for sure.

A loss like that shouldn't impact the confidence of a group of professionals.

If their confidence is so shaky that one game that the goalie lets them down has a huge impact on them, this team isn't going anywhere anyway.

This is still a fragile group, given they have buckled under any pressure last few seasons. I’d play Forsy for next game as it’s his time for rotation, if he plays better it should be his net. Team can’t do any better defensively and a team like ours needs to win when we play this well to change from .500. If we keep losing games because of Ullmark they will try to shelter him further, which is a nearly impossible task.

Even the post game show isn’t making excuses
I like when Chris Stevenson is on the show, he calls a spade a spade. He called out Ullmark, Sanderson and Kleven who didn't have good games.

Chabot/Jensen have been the best D on our team for awhile now. How is it possible that Sandy played better D under DJ's system but so often is out of position or blocking our goalie's sightlines under Green? Zub is back, so what's the problem? Is the new style of play confusing him?

I doubt it’s confusing him. Chabot actually said the system is very black and white this year, so it seems Green simplified things for them.

Usually a decline in play is either explained by a) injury or b) a mental thing. Sanderson might just be in his own head, he probably feels a lot of responsibility. But he also took a maintenance day today so it could be the former.

I think the Carolina game is going to be a bloodbath regardless of who's in net. We never play good against them and they completely dominated Utah and lost.

I'd still start Ullmark since that game is pretty much a write-off and he's paid to be our starter. We need to try to get him going somehow.
He's never beaten Carolina where Forsberg has 3-3-1 record against them I believe. If we want Ullmark to get going, not sure that's the game to start with IMO. I'd wait till Edm/Vegas games unless Forsberg plays extremely well. Sens need the points, ride the hot hand.

Again, yes Ullmark got a shutout against Toronto but he hasn't necessarily stolen us a game yet. If he did that at some point this game could probably be forgiven. All the games he won the team played very well too.
He played lights out in that one period in pre-season where he faced 26 shots. Then again against the Panthers as Sens were kinda flat the 1st two periods, Ullmark kept them in it. It's been since his injury. He says he's healthy but his positional play, tracking and timing seem to be a little off. Even he says he's not sure where his game is at and that was before this game. We've seen what he can do when he's on, just hope it doesn't take too long for him to figure it out.

4th goal just catch the puck and there isn’t a rebound sitting there. 3rd goal should’ve been stopped. OT goal like was he napping? I also kind of hated the 1st goal. No screen whatsoever… Meanwhile, Fedowhateverhisname has the game of his life.
I seem to recall that Sanderson was out of position and going to the other side and skated in front of Ullmark which created the screen. Ullmark didn't see the shot until it was too late. Gord Miller and Noodles even mentioned it during the broadcast.

That feels like a make or break schedule. Are you the team last year that would go 0-4 or can you get some wins and OTLs?
Weird schedule this year. They've played mostly playoff teams so far but few of the bottom 5 from last year (only Montreal). After those 4 games, they play Calgary, SJS, LAK, Ducks, Red Wings and Nashville after, all winnable games IMO. If they keep playing the way they've been playing, they can make up a lot of ground against those teams.

Yeah, definitely not making the playoffs with a sub 900 sv %

We're going to need him to make up for these stinkers and stand on his head for most of the season to make up for this or his numbers will get ugly and we won't make the playoffs.
Your logic escapes me. If he plays between .905 and .915 the rest of the way, we'll win more games than we lose unless the scoring drys up. I don't consider those numbers standing on his head. It's harder to move the overall needle up the more games you play. If he starts playing better, the annual sv% will be meaningless. I want to see what the sv% is for both of our goalies for the games they play in the next couple of months as that would be a better indicator of whether we make the playoffs or not IMO.

I mean, we scored 4. Not like we didn't have goal support. The team played fine, Ullmark had a stinker. Shit happens, but there was a lot to like about the game.

The only thing that disappointed me outside of goaltending was a bit of game management issues, we had a lead with 7 mins to go and Kleven is pinching halfway down the wall. He needed to play that less aggressively and make the safe play in that situation.
Yep, pretty sure that will be discussed in the post-game session with the team.

Yeah you’re right. I rewatched and first goal wasn’t as bad as I originally thought. Sanderson being in way but not blocking it played a role for sure.

We were talking about even strength. So if you’re gonna hop into a convo maybe you should know what the topic of conversation is, no?

Ullmark aside, they held them to 7 shots over the first half of the game. Up 2 in the 3rd, Philly makes a push and starts getting number advantages in the O-Zone, gets a softie. Up 1, there’s odd man rushes happening with 7 minutes left. That can’t happen.

Torts mentioned before the game they want to generate offence off the rush, that’s where they succeed. That’s what they did, the other 5 guys on the ice need to be held accountable for this loss as well.

Also, that other goalie had a .750 SV% on the season, or something, they made him look like Shesterkin.
Well, .850 but who's counting? 🤣

I hope you're right because he has less pressure now than before. Chabot and Jensen are playing really well so it's no longer all up to him and Zub.
