While I completely agree with everything said here, it is still weird to see it. "He' not that good. Give him more money."

I think the idea would be to give him roughly the same amount of money, just at a much younger age where you don’t worry about him falling off like Fast probably will soon.

In terms of analytics at ES I would be surprised if McDavid hasn't dramatically elevated literally everybody he's played with over his career. There are only ever two outcomes: a player's production increases, or their lack of finish gets exposed. Sometimes both, as in the case of Hyman this season, who leads the league in "how did that goalie save that" per 60 but could still put up 90-something points.
Oh I'm not disagreeing with the statement that McDavid elevates other players, I even brought up Kane. I was only clarifying what I thought the poster meant.

Tampa was overpaying for the league-minimum contract. Carolina is underpaying for a $3M cap dump. That's the key difference, and a big reason why the market is very much inflated only for specific varieties of contracts.
i totally get it, but seeing this still hit me. if anything it drives home your point of how much the space is worth

I haven't been posting in ages. But decided to shime in this. I do understand, some fans are reserved if this is a good move. Been seeing Jesse develop. Sure, he isn't a big scorer for sure, but he is just physical animal. Impossible to move from like in front of the net. Does more for defence and back check. And isn't liability. So might not be the scorer, or anything top line kinda guy, but Carolina has plenty of those.

Really amps up the depth in my opinion. Him coming to my maybe favorite team feels so good. Time will tell will he take next steps when surrounded with Finnish people, probably helps a lot not being alone and such.

So at now, keep the sauna warm and let's see how this pans out. Been loving how the Canes have played. This can't really hurt much. Hope gains confidence and makes differents in 3rd or 4th line... or whatever the management has planned.

No, I was referring to your description of Fast being not very good this year and then in the same paragraph saying he is going to get a raise. I agree it will happen, but it is just funny. Failing upwards sort of thing.

So after a quick glance it looks like he’s only played with 4 Finns total over his career. Now he’s coming to a team with 4 Finns on the roster. What happens when so many Finns get together in a foreign country?
They create an illusion of friendship through alcohol and being able to badmouth the locals from the safety of their language.

...or so I've heard.
