Confirmed with Link: Oilers sign Corey Perry (775k AAV, 225k for 10GP, 50k for winning Round II, 50k for winning Round III)

I half thought the 225K for playing 10 games was supposed to be a joke. Haven't we seen enough of that bonus?

we set a precedent, now every agent will be demanding the Ken Holland special. If its good enough for Mr.700 days without a goal it must be good enough for Corey Perry

I'm def not a Perry fan, but cannot deny the success of his antics. Happy to see him signed with this team as I think he will help.

Good signing, He should come in great for the BOA and playoffs. A guy teams hate to play against

Heres to hoping he turns out like Kassian/Kane. Who both had turmoil surrounding them but used the Oilers as a redemption tour

Another odd bunch of Holland style bonuses, but at least not Connor Brown level. Connecting playoff success to depth players always kinda goofy.

Hope Perry makes a difference! And hope he provides us lots of entertainment

*J-O motion* ok then. Keep being angry at the Brown contract, this bonus is basically nothing.

Altogether it brings our expected bonus overages + other dead cap to around 6M next year. Dylan Holloway wont hit some of his performance bonuses due to injury but theoretically they would run up to 600k, likely still some within reach. Should be real competitive with VD and our entire bottom 6 to re-sign other than DR, and a backup goalie.

lol yes of course, all good signings have someone elses fingerprints on it but all bad ones are holland going rouge....

Holland needs help. And he’s gotten it. Katz sees it the same way.

Knob doesn’t happen, nor does Coffey without the much needed help too.

Has anyone seen Button's video on TSN? Saying that Perry is good to have so he can call out McD and Drai when they're not working hard enough.

It’s such a dumb comment. Perry’s game at this point in his career isn’t even about workrate. Far from it, he’s mostly in energy conservation mode out there but his awareness and hockey IQ allows him to be effective in low minutes and without full hustle.

Yes, it couldn't be that Brown had offers nearing 4 million in total compensation, and the Oilers had to beat out those offers to sign the player.

I understand if you think Connor Brown should never have been a target (I wasn't big on him but definitely didn't think he would be this bad), but I think we have to give Holland more credit than thinking he's overbidding for guys by millions.

This is more what the Brown contract should have looked like. Performance bonuses attached to playoffs but we know that wasn't going to happen in relation to Brown.

Perry is a notable playoff performer and worth it just for that and his knowledge and first hand experience of what it takes. Brown is nothing like that and only knows what its like to lose in first round if his club even gets there.

Perry makes every playoff club he's ever been on better. He was still scoring this season as well.

Its one thing to have some interest and do some tirekicking on Brown, its another to get involved in a bidding war for a guy who can barely crack 40 points at his peak prime in this league who just missed a whole season and had a major surgery and is turning 30.

Danton Heinen was sitting without a contract until training camp and he just scored a hattrick last night. This was a megadumb move, and it was Holland on one side, and Jeff Jackson on the other asking "are you excited?! Brown is!"

Of course Brown is. Hate that these guys are running the org now.

You won't see him flying around the rink, but he still battles in the dirty areas and mucks it up.

For sure. Can still make a hell of a pass too. And has his signature poise and ability to get open for chances around the net.
