Holy crap this guy is in denial. "I'm the same player I always was." Ridiculous. If this performance he's given us was from an AHL callup he would have been buried back in AHL by November. But he's Connor McDavids friend and McDaddy wanted him here and spoke so highly of him.

The only reason Brown is in the lineup is the org doesn't want to make things awkward for Captain. Its as if the org pretends and hopes it won't be obvious what an imposter of an NHL player Brown is post injury.

He's so laughably inept the team is better not even having him in the lineup.

'Brown looks at the guy with the smartly trimmed red beard" WTF does this have to do with anything.

its almost like we scoffed about, that part of the like of Connor Brown is his name, his fine broth of a player looks, lol, even though he looks like a ginger stepchild.

This article would have to be by Spector. Matheson probably talking about what a solid team guy Brown is. While calling Drai pissy.

The facts are distorted as well. Its not 45 games without an NHL goal. Thats just here. The lofty streak is now 63 games without a goal. If you count the extra games he's so useless that he was healthy scratched here its more than that. lol

The next lie was saying Brown was a lock for 15 goals. lol he's had seasons of 0, 8, 10, 15 goals and looking for 0 a 2nd time.

The reality is Brown looks better in the stands than he does on the ice robbing 4M of our capspace.

Connor Brown is what he is what he is, and always has been. There must be some really shocked and surprised posters on this board based on the early posts in this thread calling him a top 6 bonafide 20-30 goal scoring machine, top line McWinger, steal of a deal, Big upgrade on Yamo, etc.

His shot and speed of getting his shot off is equivalent to a pee wee player. And he's blaming goal posts and bad luck, no your shots rarely get through a defender guy! Sad sad

Agreed he's one of the worst acquisitions the Oilers have had. Like Puljujarvi, good speed, play dies when he gets to the net. Yes his shot is awful....

Everything this player touches turns to shit. Every line, every player gets noticeably worse.

His lazy flybys and inability to cover his man is even more frustating than his complete lack of offensive ability.
 
Left in the dust offensively by Cody Ceci. Quite an accomplishment.

Dude should have been buried in the AHL since his 9th NHL game. Imagine wasting 3M of cap space in a season as important as our next one, with McDrai contracts coming up, on what Connor Brown was brought. And imagine you had an obvious way to prevent it, even after the huge mistake of giving the contract, and you didn't. This is still not an org that is serious about doing whatever it takes to win.

I thought the PK was good last night but the point remains that there are a few guys on the farm who have earned a spot over Brown.

Speaking of the farm, I think Holland is going to ship Lavoie out at the deadline which would be good for the player. I don't understand why his shot wouldn't be welcome with the Oilers but I guess its time for both parties to move on. He's obviously not a PK guy like Brown but if he doesn't fit in the Oilers plans then make a move.

Much like Kesselring he seems to be a guy that the org has 0 plans for. We could use a sniper but instead will probably pay out our ass to get one at the deadline instead of giving Raph a legit shot.

That is just sad, after they wasted a pick on him, spent all this time developing him, and then never giving him a real shot, when he provides a skill that we need badly. Just terrible management of an asset.

Playing on the 4th line would be even worse than where he is now. He'd get zero PP time, and probably 4 minutes a game, just a few twirls to get McDavid and company a chance to catch their breath. If he came up, it should be legit in the top 6, playing with good offensive players to get him the puck in shooting areas, and also get a shot at the PP.

Soon as I saw the Spector article I said Matheson would double down with his own promoting Connor Brown. The same guys that would Tell Drai to f*** himself and ask why he's so pissy.

These guys are not journalists but trolls and have been for sometime. The players must get sick of it. Unless I guess if you're Connor Brown getting paid 4M to do f*** all.

I'd far rather have Lavoie in the lineup. I dont' see what the player did wrong not to be here.

Maybe Lavoie doesn't develop into a top 6 big body sniper if stuck on the 4th line this year, but importantly it would mean that Connor Brown isn't on the Edmonton Oilers. That alone makes it the better option.

Because of things like this the Oilers will be indescribably bad post McDrai. Of course not just this player alone but for several years we haven't been keeping our own. The org has spent the last several years just airlifting in players, almost randomly, and damned be the teams own prospects. Boosh probably being our last player developed. I don't know the team will have patience with even Holloway and McLeod.
There continues to be things with how this org does business that keeps making it hard to like the org at times.
Lavoie particularly did all that was asked of him, played games hard, was noticeable, was just how you'd expect a rook trying hard to look.

Must be demoralizing to be any prospect in this org.

Completely agree-- Kenny likes his vets and makes that very clear.

I think that Lavoie would have been ideal on the 2nd power play unit this season.

His ability to score at the NHL level would have been proven/disproven based in part on what would have been seen there. He's not getting any better in the AHL and putting him on the 4th line with 5 minutes playing time won't help much either. He's never going to be a hard checking defensive forward although he does have a mean streak.

I'm still amazed that the Flames didn't claim him on waivers (at close to the league minimum salary) in order to stick it to an arch rival. What was the downside risk?

He, Brown, deserves so much credit for just continuing to work hard and contribute. He's providing his best hockey at the most important time of the year and should be celebrated for it.

He wasn't dressed at the start of the playoffs for some reason. If they didn't make it past Vancouver we would still whining for another 11 months about the cap hit in 24-25. Hopefully he resigns at a decent number and we can continue to love him.

I think it's reasonable to read things as dealing with the injury was a bigger deal than we thought.

Mental aspects post injury can be challenging for sure.
