Confirmed with Link: Oilers sign Connor Brown to 1-year incentive laden deal ($775K caphit, potentially $3.25M in bonuses)

Fire Holland and have the new GM come in and send Brown down since Holland likely doesn't have the balls to do it. When/if Brown looks ready to be an impact NHLer you recall him but not a second before that.

Of course he won't send him down, if he does it's an indictment on him, that he's admitting that this signing was a big mistake big disaster from day 1. He's probably still convinced that Campbell can turn it around LMFAO.

Next-level gm'ing adding over $3M in dead cap next year, on a nothing player that provides jackshit this year.

Fire Idiot Holland.
Like some posters have said, hoping all the best for Brown's health, but if his injury is season ending, that could be our only saving grace for next season. You just can't make this stuff up on how Ludacris he came up with this contract and a few others

Maybe Holland doesn't care about the dead cap next year because if Leon doesn't want to re-sign, they pretty much have to trade him this coming offseason.

I dont know if it even matter that Holland has balls. Jackson is the one who negotiated the contract from the agent side. So Jackson likely wouldnt send him down anyway. (Not that Holland would either).

I guess if the team is out of the playoffs by the trade deadline. They could just trade a player so we have 3.225m in cap space (so theres no carry over), so the new GM isnt already starting from a bigger hole.

If he doesn't re-sign by spring then you have to think that the team will trade him in summer rather than risking losing him to free agency for nothing the following year. Yikes, sentiment around the team has certainly changed in the space of just a month-almost hard to believe. Hopefully a better script will emerge and some of this is just panic.

No idea, I just know that the longer that Holland is here the worse off things are going to get unless Jackson is worth a damn and starts calling the shots.
Reality is a new GM isn’t going to come in and make a bunch of trades off the hop. A new GM will likely be less active than Holland in fact and will want to evaluate the rest of the season before making major changes.

Should be waived.
GM needs to put the team first, player second. Those are the hard decisions he's paid for.
That won't happen.

The media are guilty of this gullibiltiy too, and they help to create it. Connor Brown in 2023 was a pretty much nothing acquisition. But you'd never know it from the local scribes immediately comparing him to a guy that had 83 pts.

Its easy to sell snakeoil in this market.

Brown isn't even a 35pt player. Post injury we don't know he's much of anything.

its actually uncanny to me that the winger "replacing" Yamamoto is actually far worse than him. Only the Oilers could have such a low bar expectation and still crawl way under it. All I heard in the offseason was how Connor Brown completes our topsix and is another Hyman. lolol

i didn't think any player could make me miss Kailor Yamamoto and really I don't just trying to find some humor in this mess.
Connor Bromomoto.

Since c.brown isn’t in the lineup tonite, I assume he won’t see a 10th game this year activating his bonus next year?

After the Canucks game I think it is obvious... we have to flush this season... and start to think about next season.

imo every penny counts and if they let Brown play one more game, I will stop to support the Oilers, because with such a bad mgt and coaching every dollar spent is waste of money... that contract needs to be off the book next season... we already have enough bad contracts to deal with... i.e. Nurse, Campbell...

If the season is a wash move out Foegele and Kulak and the bonus is paid off.

so then the bonus could be applied this season instead of next? well, fine with me as long as there is no carry-over... actually I like what I see of Foegele this year and if we could extend him next season for less, i would like to keep him.

You can apply it to this year, but you have to lose someone off the cap and end the year under the cap. That said if the season is a wash how invested are you in keeping all the Kulaks and McLeods of the world, even Foegele you could maybe circle back to him in the summer as a UFA.
