Daccord has been more consistent than Skinner this year regardless of last nights performance. It's not about one goal or one game, but rather what happens over the course of many games, a season, or multiple seasons. But in fact, the contrast between Bouchard and Skinner is actually a very good place to look. Both players make very obvious mistakes. And some of Bouchard's worst mistakes end up costing Skinner dearly. But when you look at the big picture over many games it turns out that by pretty much every metric the good with Bouchard far outweighs the bad while with Skinner just the opposite happens. Neither player is solely responsible for all that happens when they are on the ice, but this pattern has repeated itself over multiple seasons.Should Daccord be a goalie in NHL after all that he leaked through last night? As you said defensive breakdowns happen all the time but goalies being the last line of D get the most blame. Skinner wasn't good but atleast he didn't let in muffins last night. I don't see a point in bashing Skinner anymore now that he be will a starter for us in playoffs. Take him for the below avg goalie he is and work the game around him.
It's similar to accepting what we have in Bouchard and just work around his brain farts instead of hoping Emberson or Klingberg will replace him in playoffs
You are 100% correct in that Skinner is almost for sure going to be the go to guy to carry much of the weight in net this year. Every time he takes the ice I will be pulling for him to have a good game. I take no pleasure in any of his failures since it is the team that counts.
