If Holland doesn't start making some moves, the price to completely fix this defense might be one of Draisaitl or McDavid when one of them (or both) decides to ask for a trade.

this is OT but will someone please explain to me how draft-day Evan Bouchard looks at least 5-10 years older than 2023 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

We absolutely don't miss Smith at all. People forget that the Oilers got as far as they did last year in spite of him.

Of course, the nice guy aspect also applies to basically everyone up top, including Mr. "You can't squeeze other GMs" Holland.

people are forget we only made the playoffs because he was great from February onwards

This is why I supported a Reaves trade. We need a mascot to bring some life out of this ho hum group.

Thought it was interesting that Rishaug said that Woodcroft needs to be "a bit more careful" about what he says in press conferences in reference to the ridiculous "uncharacteristic errors" comment last night. Woodcroft likely still has the support of the fanbase, but that will go away very, very quickly if this bullshit continues and he keeps blowing smoke up our ass.

Coaches and GMs jump the shark here the moment they become a meme because of dumb public comments. Woodcroft is starting to walk down this tightrope.

Why not mention his 3.37 GAA? He let in some truly smelly goals all throughout the playoffs, punctuated by a final series in which he was horrendous in 3/4 of the games.

I’ll start by saying that I’ll never defend Kane personally. There’s lots of evidence out there that he’s not exactly the greatest person on the planet
But
He is a great hockey player. Outside of Hopkins, he may be the best 200 foot player on this team. It’s important to realize that we’ve missed him greatly.
It’s great news that he’s getting healthy AND we are still within striking distance

Woodcroft is getting exposed as the fraud he is

he'll be canned at the end of the year if the Oilers miss the playoffs and be back in the AHL where he belongs, hopefully taking Manson with him

I'm honestly still steaming from that press conference. That one is right up there in the dumb Oiler personnel quote hall of fame for me. What the hell is wrong about saying "this is unacceptable, these mistakes keep happening and clearly we have to change our approach to get the message across to the group?"

This isn't f***ing Florida. The fans aren't stupid, quit pretending they are.

Could care less what he tells fans and media. Just as long as he's telling the guys in the room that. Which I assume he is as he looking pretty mad yesterday during timeout lol

Dave Tippett was a bozo and absolutely deserved to get fired.

That doesn't mean the roster isn't still terribly flawed, put together by a dinosaur of a GM who hasn't a clue, working for a coverup artist that really should be behind bars...

relaxed training camp

relaxed starts
relaxed games

I don't know how you fire another coach. Maybe fix the same thing that has been hurting this team since Pronger left.

We'll have to see what practice looks like today I guess. Anything less than a bag skate today is totally unacceptable IMO. The tough love better actually start now.
