One of those games where normally you would say, "Well, we deserved to win that one; it just got away and we didn't get the breaks." The Oilers had 50 shots on net, hit the post a few times, and lost by just one.

However, at 2-5-1 you can't afford to lose those ones. Now 2-6-1.

The Oilers currently have an unfortunate combination of skaters who can't beat NHL goaltenders and NHL goaltenders who can't stop NHL shooters. It's depressing.

How much longer does Holland give Woodcroft to turn this around? Jays gotta be feeling the heat.

Jay Woodcroft gonna be flipping burgers this time next year
He might be. However, Woodcroft is the least of the Oilers' problems. The issue they're suffering from is one of personnel and lack of bottom-six, as well as general lack of grit in big games.

These are the same problems they've had since four coaches ago.

Woodcroft is one of the 3 problems on this team. He single handedly costed his team the playoffs last year against Vegas.

I’d like to see what Mike Babcock could do with this Oilers team and see if he can install some defensive structure.

I think it’s going to be Seattle, Edmonton, Minnesota, and Anaheim fighting for 2 Wild Card spots.

If I had to put money on it…

WC1 goes to Seattle

Will the Oilers take WC2? If yes: good luck with Vegas, Dallas, or Colorado in Round 1.

10 games into the season. It's no longer early. Time to start worrying in Edmonton

Kenny Holland will probably wait until the 20 game mark before he does anything if things don’t turn around. By then the Oilers will have to run at a .750 pace for the rest of the season just to make the playoffs.

No chance the Oilers win their division this year.

They could always bring in Babcock

Ken Holland bringing in an ex member of the Detroit Red Wings?
Oh Love I dunno, that sounds just too far fetched.

The roster is by no means perfect and I chortled when the media were crowning them SC favourites before the season but it's not that bad. McDavid and Draisaitl have some scoring help. RNH and Hyman had great years last season. Kane is a reasonable top 9 player. Ekholm is a good top4 dman.

A hole at 2RD and a suspect 3rd line should not result in such utter shite. Especially when you have both of the two reigning leading scorers in the league.

Yes, it should.

Before tonight, they had 3 goals on the season by bottom-six forwards (all by Warren Foegele, who was actually getting top-six shifts with McDavid out).

That's a pace of 30 goals on the season by bottom six forwards.
