Defense still wins championships. And until the Oilers and their management realize that they're not going to win a cup with their juggernaut power play, nothing will change.

They are definitely going for the "complain about officiating enough, and maybe we'll get enough power plays to win in the playoffs" strategy.

Haha they tried that last playoffs and look how it ended. When things tighten up in the playoffs and the Oilers are outplayed 5 on 5, they would need to score 6 or 7 goals each game to win.

Lost to the eventual Cup winners again? It sucks but atleast our system of scoring 6-7 goals a game was enough to destroy the Flames franchise for the foreseeable future.

Sounds like the Oilers need to work on their discipline. Can’t go taking that many dumb penalties in the playoffs.
Hope he starts chilling out lol

Weren’t the Knights already one of the least penalized teams last season too? I don’t remember all the exact oilers penalties last playoffs so this could be irrelevant, but they’ve got a few players reliable to take some awful frustration and or tough guy penalties at inopportune times

It’s always the refs

Especially with genuinely disciplined teams over the years, they always get the simplistic “favoritism” accusations.

Anyways, where’s the roller coaster at currently? Is a win against Nashville enough or do they need 3-2 record to peak

Canucks won't need to worry about playoffs. lol. You Canucks fans sure beak a lot for a team that hasn't done anything in a decade.

There is strong statistical evidence that shows all Canadian teams get the short end of the stick when it comes to playoff reffing, but don't let that get in the way of your homerism.

if Vegas commits less penalties why should penalties be awarded to other teams.

Whining about penalties drives me bonkers. ( I say that broadley not directed at anyone directoy).

I'm talking penalty differential.

Most teams that take less penalties just get less powerplays and vice versa.

And then sometimes teams just get all the calls. Carolina took a lot less penalties than Vegas in the playoffs for example, but they just made up for more penalties taken by Vegas by giving them way more PPs.

We have to define what we mean by unlucky.

Given the way the Edmonton played in the first game against Vancouver, they were definitely going to lose and badly.

If Vancouver and Edmonton played each other an infinite number of times under the same circumstances, we could construct a set of all the Vancouver/Edmonton outcomes and their probabilities. The result on the 8-1 game was a highly unlikely probability. Edmonton was unlucky to have such a bad game, as the vast majority of their games are way better than that one.

If they played that badly, it didn't take luck to lose, but they were unlucky to play that badly.

I'm talking penalty differential.

Most teams that take less penalties just get less powerplays and vice versa.

And then sometimes teams just get all the calls.
That’s nonsense

Is it safe to assume that “buying in on” means expecting McDavid to say he’s going out to buy smokes and showing up months later playing in another city with a new name?

It’s plausible.

When your 100 point player like RNH get outplayed by all time greats like Teddy Bluger and JT Compher your team will be on the PK a lot.

Strong statistical evidence my ass :biglaugh: , that’s some strong coping for getting blown out constantly. There is no statistical evidence that the NHL is going after Canadian teams in the playoffs when it comes to reffing, Canadian teams just haven’t been good
