Any word from Seravelli? I know he’s been pumping the Oilers media tires since the playoffs so it’ll be interesting to see his take.

Then again, he probably aged another 10 years justifying his love for Bowman.

Yes, other fanbases are different. Not all are different but most don't take things to the extreme like Edmonton. We have a show called Oilers now that runs all offseason, all people want to do is talk hockey here, so if Bowman helps them win a championship, Oiler's fans couldn't give two shits about his past.
You're deluding yourself if you think humans are wired differently because they cheer for a team with a different colored jersey

I have gotten pretty good as an Oiler fan at compartmentalizing terrible trades/hires but this one is impossible to look past.

I am just really disappointed in the Oilers organization today. My fandom has taken a hit.

I really don't believe the league should have to have a ban on these guys. I think the teams should refuse to hire these people without the league telling them they can't hire them.

When you make a hire like this you're putting it on blast to everyone that you're an asshole. And you don't care.

According to the report they didn’t give an actual recommendation to Aldrich but they didn’t do anything about a sexual assault that was reported to them either.

After the police contacted them about the high student being assaulted by Aldrich, the Blackhawks told them they would cooperate with authorities if “served with a subpoena”.

Priorities 1. Covering your own ass 2. Nothing else

Stan Bowman’s Leadership at work.

Interesting conclusion to draw from the fact that someone from HR didn't want to release information by phone to the police. Disclosing potential confidential information when someone calls you and says they are from the police is a big no-no.

There are many other things you can criticize SB for, you don't have to go to this lenght ;)

Hiring Bowman is disgusting. Because they never reported him when they found out and then never did when they let him go, this was allowed to happen and this blood is on all of their f***ing hands.

In the thread what would make me stop being a fan of my team - hiring a loser like Bowman or any of the others.

Please don't insult Holland like that. Being an idiot is far different than being scum. I can hate Holland's intelligence and still respect him as a person.

Doesn't really have anything to do with the coverup stuff.

One soared on the work of Jim Devellano and Hakan Andersson and slowly rode his organization into the ground. The other took the work of Dale Tallon and took the organization on a slow, steady decline before nosediving straight down on his way out.

Might as well just sign Hart now.

This organization has done some really dumb stuff and brought on some questionable people over the years… this one takes the cake.

I didn’t think they would do this. I’m so pissed.
He's from Edmonton so sadly they might...

There was no letter, but that doesn't matter. People saying anything about it are looking to create a distraction from the main story.

I can't believe there's posters here falling on their sword to defend Bowman. Just crazy.
While there are definitely people in here using a ton of calories to defend him (and Quenneville every time he's brought up) I do feel this has had a mostly negative reaction. Almost to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if this experiment doesn't last too long. I'm not saying I think it will happen, but I could totally see him not being GM by the time training camp rolls around.

Well it didn't stop teams from drafting racists, players guilty of rape and revenge porn etc.

Sports culture is vile. The NHL is showing time and time again that accountability means nothing in the grand scheme of winning.

I hate Daryl so much.
Jeff didn't seem to give a shit what the players thought. This was the hero they were all anointing this off season.

Meh, I have no issue banning them. I've seen a lot of "what so he should just never be allowed to make a living again?? How long should he be cancelled for??"

The guy didn't go to prison, he spent 3 years hanging out in a mansion living on the millions of dollars he made as a professional GM. He'd have no issue slotting into any number of leadership positions in other industries, but he does not have a "right" to continued employment with the NHL in an capacity. He's free man, go somewhere else.
