Oilers hire Mike Babcock as head coach, DJ Smith as associate coach

Address the rest of the post that's not a clear joke?

Or can we not joke about two of the bigger scumbags in the modern game? Do you live in a pretend world where NHL players and team staff are all amazing people who donate millions to animal shelters?

What do you get out of blindly defending two shitbags you don't personally know?
I just think it’s a bit ironic to both criticize and claim the moral high ground while also joking around about sexual harassment

When did I claim the moral high ground? Again, will you address the stuff about McDavid interfering with management last season and what happens if he tries it with Babs and who wins out? Or will you reply with more sniveling?

Also, what do you get out of blindly defending these two that you don't personally know?

Seems to me like McDavid and Babs are on the same page - they both putting winning first. But if it comes down to it it’s Connor’s team.

I think the whole keeping Pickard thing was dumb too tbh, but Skinner did need to go.

I don’t know about blindly defending, you can think whatever you want of them both I really don’t care

"Unless you’re 100 percent all-in on Mike Babcock, I have no interest in coming in and being the coach,”

That's quite something to hear from an NHL coach. I can't think of another who would ever say something like that at an introductory press conference.

Reactions: dire wolf
lol yep that was the management and coaching staff that got 97 to game 7. Nothing to do with Connor putting up 42 points. That’s the most by a player not named Mario or Wayne by the way, and only 5 points back of the greatest playoff run in history.

The guy got Stu Skinner and a Nurse-Ceci pair one goal away. Shut up with this nonsense
Yea CM97s points got them one game short of the Cup.
The rest of the players, coaches and mgt did nothing.
I stand corrected.

Win as a team....lose as a team.

I don't think this will be a very consequential move for Edmonton, regardless of the Babcock drama if you want to call it that at this time. The hire is what it is, and maybe his style does revive the flagging Oilers team of last season.

What's more crazy to me (as someone who does want to believe McDavid can win regardless of team) is how much the Nurse trade demand appears to be holding up actual moves that Edmonton should be making to improve their team. I know July 1 hasn't come yet and that Nurse has an NMC, but with the transactions flying across the League already it does feel like Edmonton is a bit behind.

Maybe it's just me.

Why do you think he has yo "get something" for simply offering his opinion?

Not a fan of the hire but at least he didn’t bullshit us with the “I’m a changed man!” Nonsense
Respect are continuing to be a prick

I don't understand what gets out of not knowing either of them personally and defending them despite what has been made public. What's his angle? Is it just blind homerism? He didn't address the more pressing issue and neither have you, which is. What happens and who wins when Babcock wants to shit on a back up goalie and Connor thinks he's invaluable for the locker room?
