To my eye Brown has been struggling the most recently. Not sure if they’d consider taking him out due to his role on the penalty kill though.

You're aware that the team that wins the presidents trophy historically has the highest winning percentage of actually winning the cup, right?

The presidents trophy winners also win the cup about a standard deviation more than odds would expect them to as well.

It's just a huge problem space with a huge amount of statistical noise.

Presidents Trophy curse is a myth. The cup has been won by the Presidents trophy winning team more than any other spot in the standings.

You guys are annoying. When he plays well, you act like he's prime Hasek. When he plays poorly, it's all on the defense.

Good thing it just happened a few games ago when the team soiled the sheets in the first against the Kings. And against the Bruins when the team got rolled over in the back half of the second and into the third. And quite often when he’s put up north of a .900 SV% in way more games than not since October.

Oilers played terrible. Our defence was terrible except for Darnell Nurse.

We needed him to find his game and come back with a return to form and, so far, he's done that. I did not expect that pass he made to Nuge in the 3rd period. With Nurse on his game and, maybe... MAYBE Klingberg back to who he was, we may just have a team with a great top 4.

I won't comment much on Skinner. Whenever I do, it does not end well

I'm obviously fine if we win the division/conference/pres trophy. but only if it happens somewhat organically. Don't want to play McDrai 25 minutes a night down the stretch if we are just chasing an against the odds standings placement. If it happens, then great, extra home game is always nice, but there are no freebie opponents in the west this year. Just have the boys healthy and playing near the top of their game when playoffs start is all I really care about.

I’m to lazy to look but how many teams that finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th have won the cup during the cap era. That’s probably somewhere in the range that we’ll finish.

I’m not really manipulating anything, just stating that the odds are a third of what they were before the cap in the 19 years since. And 6 teams that won the presidents trophy lost in the first round in the 19 years of the Cap era. So in the cap era a team is that wins the presidents trophy is three times as lucky to loose in the first round than win the cup.

The cap made it so teams can’t do what Dallas, Detroit, and the Avalanche did in the late 90s and 2000s and stack their teams. One of the best wingers just got. Traded for cap reasons, and teams have to budget to build a roster rather than just spend. Sure it didn’t work for the Rangers of that era after their cup win.

The league has more parity now with 32 teams and a cap than it did 20 or more years ago.

Never said a single thing about defense, but continue to project.

He’s been solid for 3/4 months of the year, and 3 of those 4 months have been in a row. Another month and the “but October!” BS will be more ridiculous than it already is.

That really is an unbelievable stat. Drai can fire a 125 foot no look backhand pass tape to tape, yet can't hit a yawning open cage 20 feet away. Keep waiting for things to even out, but we keeping defying logic. Maybe we are saving it for the post season.

Sure some of it is incompetence...but these execs prefer drones they can control, so the talent goes WAY down, but they get what they want. Happened on both TSN and Sportsnet. For this team I think a guarantee of home ice every series is important maybe more than others.

Home ice in Edmonton in the playoffs is a major advantage.
