Post-Game Talk: Oilers get reverse goalied

Need a better tandem for sure. Didn’t think that 1st goal was that terrible but whatever. You risk being torched as a Skinner apologist with any contrary opinion. Not sure there is any clear upgrades on Skinner, maybe a 1B replacing Pic.
It's a goal that unfortunately happens a bit more often than it should on Stu. Obviously sometimes pucks sneak through the 6 hole, but they happen a bit more than I'd like on a cup contender's starting goalie.

I don't know that there's a clear upgrade, but I'd like someone who could push him and step in to take over the starting role for a playoff run if he craps the bed like he did in the Vancouver series. There's definitely much better options than Pickard for that.

Couldn’t watch. From what I’m reading f we won but played mostly like garbage?
Basically we were dominating 5on5 for most of the 1st and 2nd period, but then refs called a weak penalty both times, our PK was a fire drill, and Buffalo gained a lot of momentum both times and kind of took over the rest of the periods.

Played bad for our standards, but game was fairly even.

I don’t understand how Hrudey has a job
My guess is that Sportsnet has analytics that show Canucks and Flames fans need to coddled to drive up viewership numbers. Those 2 teams having homers permeates all aspects of both their local and national broadcasts. Even new media people brought in the market instantly turn into homers (e.g., Greg Millen)

Rejean needs to remember her meds

Talking Flames on HNIC and so of course MacLean has to interrupt to tell everyone that his beloved Oilers won again today and are now in first place in their division. Just #### off and retire already you Oiler fanboy.

Flames finish 1st in WC and Avs 2nd. We proceed to sweep the flames and Avs beat the Jets in 5 games lmaoo

Honestly first period wasn't bad. Oilers should have been up 3-1 but Reimer played very well and Nuge hit a skate blade on an uncontested wide open net with only a dman to beat. Rest of the game was pretty meh.

First period was fine, then the choice was made to be decisively outworked the rest of the way.

Getting outworked isn’t uncommon among teams considered not good.

Said it before the game... the Oilers somehow always make the Sabres look twice as good as they actually are.

And the Canadiens, and the Blackhawks, and the Blue Jackets, etc.

Taking games off against select opponents is part of the process here. At a macro level it is what it is, but incredibly frustrating.

Don’t want the presidents trophy.

Why? There's no curse. Quite the opposite, really.

You're aware that the team that wins the presidents trophy historically has the highest winning percentage of actually winning the cup, right?

The presidents trophy winners also win the cup about a standard deviation more than odds would expect them to as well.

It's just a huge problem space with a huge amount of statistical noise.
