Sometimes miracles
There's a bit of decent prize right? I agree with you, should be good hockey. The tourney is a nice little warmup for the Olympics. I think the players care.

I agree a lot of those guys care but most of them do that mini-camp, and others in other locales, every offseason.
Agree. Skinner is what, like the 40th AAV for a goalie? Meanwhile we are using all the excess cap on a deep roster of forwards that can't finish a chance to save their lives and still blaming the goaltending.then again, don't blame goaltending when management prioritized scoring forwards (which they're not doing) over a stud goalie
it's beyond foolish
What does this response have to do with me clarifying your comments re: the Mackinnons/Crosbys/etc doing the same camp(s) they do every summer? You know what, if you were a fairly good lock for Team Canada and having the spot taken by someone else is something you don't care about ... shame on you.
What kind of competitor are you with a lame f*** attitude like that.
The players should care. They should care a lot, playing for Team Canada still means something. Anyone who is has a mind set of "well I don't care, whatever man" has no fire.
For Bouchard it's going to likely impact his pocket book for the next 2-8 years (whatever length his extension comes in at). He f***ed that up and can look in the mirror if he wants anyone to blame. He hasn't played well to start both of the last two years, this year it's going to cost him.

Our goaltending hasn't been good but it doesn't hold a candle to our inability to score in terms of our current team results.

The defense is also chipping in at or near the top of the league in offense. So it really is just the forwards that aren't scoring at an acceptable level.Agree. Adin Hill is 2 years older than Skinner, never played more than 35 games in a season and had a save % below .900 prior to last night
Yep. Can actually narrow it down further to a bunch of players we are paying like top-6 wingers who have combined to score like a dozen goals in total, lol.The defense is also chipping in at or near the top of the league in offense. Top 3 game with only 16 shots against? Guess that shows how horrible he has been this season when you put it that wayPeople freaking out about Skinner...
Ive criticized him plenty but this was probably a top 3 game for him this season even though he didnt have to do much especially in the third.
He could have played the goal better but its not exactly something you practice for, the puck bouncing back off of the defender, back to the passer, on a 2 on 1.
They pushed hard tonight but couldnt find one..3-1 in their last 4, outplaying Vegas tonight.
Theyre fine. Cant wait to get Skinner and Arvidsson back, hopefully both of them playing better than they had until their injuries.
I'm more willing to just wait for our results to normalize. We are a good team. You do you, though.Well then maybe the proper response is to move out some cap and bring in an option in goal that could be an upgrade. Arvidsson/Skinner out probably opens up cap space to bring in John Gibson.
At this point you ought to try something different, if you hit, you probably win a Cup. We're being stupid as an organization in digging our heels in on the current tandem.
What's even funnier is that we're actually slightly better than Vegas in terms of GA/G, but far behind them in GF/G.Yep. Can actually narrow it down further to a bunch of players we are paying like top-6 wingers who have combined to score like a dozen goals in total, lol.
Yup, he's not a good goalie.
But Skinner is worse.
The goaltending standards here are hilariously low.Top 3 game with only 16 shots against? Guess that shows how horrible he has been this season when you put it that way

Guess who beat Oettinger in the playoffs last year and who didn't.He absolutely is a good goalie who is great in the playoffs and great against Vegas' divisional rival, the Oilers (unfortunately for us).
You don't randomly have .930+ save percentage in the playoffs through multiple rounds in this league.
Skinner is significantly worse, you'd have to put prime Pronger and prime Lidstrom on this team for Skinner to possibly put up .930 in a playoff run and even then I'm not sure he could do it.
Guess who beat Oettinger in the playoffs last year and who didn't.
Again, Hill got hot at the right time (Oilers let him ease into the series too) and won it all. Good for him. But last night was all about the team being unable to produce offense, a trend that is starting to become worrisome for this team. Scoring 1 goal a game against that team isn't going to bode well come playoff time.Yeah that's 1 good playoff round, so what.
If he learned anything from the playoffs last year it should have shown at the start of this year, but he's right back to being his old, usual, mediocre ass.
When sometime tells you who they are repeatedly at some point maybe you ought to just believe them.
This guy is saying over and over again that he is not an above average goaltender in this league.
For there to be good/great tier goalies someone has to be in the average, mediocre, and below average tiers too ... Skinner is one of those guys. No real shame in that, but he is what he is.
Yet still one of the worst goaltenders in playoff history. Weird.Guess who beat Oettinger in the playoffs last year and who didn't.
Well we're stuck with him. Maybe the team could try scoring a few goals.Yet still one of the worst goaltenders in playoff history. Weird.

Offence needs to get going no doubt.Well we're stuck with him. Maybe the team could try scoring a few goals.

So find a way. Dallas found a way to beat this amazing goalie in the playoffs last year. Any road to the Cup goes through them. If we can't score more than 1 goal a game against that team then we're straight f***ed. We found a way to beat Silovs. We found a way to beat Oettinger, and we very nearly found a way to beat Bobrovsky. Enough excuses. Score some damn goals, whatever it takes.Hill was .930 in last year's playoffs too. At this point that isn't a fluke. He is a decent regular season goalie and a playoff monster (Bobrovsky probably fits that category too).
The ability to elevate your game in bigger pressure games IS TALENT. It's not some random thing that just magically happens. It's the same talent as McDavid doing things that Nugent Hopkins can't. Same thing, it's not some mystical voodoo.
Higher end goalies have (well) a higher end gear they can activate to.
We haven't scored shit on Vegas this year *because* of Hill. We've played them twice and don't have a single honest goal on this guy. The Kulak goal was a total fluke and so was Hyman's goal in the first game, then he shut us out last night. He loves to play us and elevates his game against us, which is unfortunately a problem for us.
Hard to win when you don't score, huh. Imagine that. While the Oilers try figuring that out, the Panthers are keeping the 2024 Cup banner that should be here warm in South Florida.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
That being the case, it's almost as if going cheap on goaltending is probably a stupid idea.
All teams have their quirks, not having a goalie here who can cover for some of those offensive lapses is a big problem.
