the offense is 21st in the NHL, shutout 4 times in 25 games....with McDavid and Draisaitl
this was supposed to be their strength

sit this one out
Lol, all you've done all year is blame anyone but Skinner.

You do know there is another goaltender on the other team, right? All of them want to show up against mcdavid and Draisaitl.

Here's ground breaking news ... when you make a Cup final (get this) team's will watch something called video (vid-e-o, recorded motion images of your team at 24 or 30 fps) on you a lot more. Then they will adjust to you.

Knoblaugh is not making any offensive adjustments, he still thinks he's in a last year where all he is responsible for is getting the group to play lower event hockey defensively and that's good enough.

He is going to have to wake up and actually start coaching offensive adjustments, this is the NHL now, not the AHL, you can't just coach one side of the rink and call it a day.
If you have to be taught to shoot the puck in prime scoring areas then go back to peewee.

You didn't even watch the game did you? Vegas were terrible with the puck, nervous half the night like it was a hand grenade. Refusal to go to the dirty areas? They did. Vegas contain decently and Hill is really good at boxing out. Not a new thing. But on one play alone McD carves through 4 Vegas players tight to their net in a box and gets a scoring chance.

Lost to so you as usual is the opponent had 2 scoring chances all night. Oilers dominated the whole game.
He watched it.

He just doesnt understand what he's watching.

Somebody tell that to Knoblauch. The guy's too focused on mainly keeping Jeff Skinner in the dog house while Connor Brown does Connor Brown things when he has a shot on net.
Oilers need a top 6 scoring winger? Let's neuter one in Skinner by playing him in a bottom 6 instead of either of the 2 best centers in the world.
You have to wonder why they would spend $3M on the guy in order to have him in the bottom 6. I think though that his positional play the last few games has been strong.

Mr. Brown has a big cheering section in the Oiler organization but the results are decidedly subpar.

Expecting a shut out from your goalie every night is not feasible. When you give up 1 goal you should win the game if your skaters have any heart.

This team is soulless.

McDavid might not be the leader we all thought he was.
Who said they were expecting a shutout every game?
But you are going to have games like this one the odd night and that’s when your goalie needs to out dual the other goalie. In short, when a goalie opposite you is having a game like Hill had tonight, you need to be nearly flawless, or at least make all the saves you have to. And the only shot he goofed on cost them this game, or at least a point.

Coach should also say no passing when you're in the slot or on a 2 on 1. Shoot it every time for 10 games.

Running the ball opens up the pass, then you can run play action and all of a sudden the defense can't read you like a book.

Maybe sometime this month they’ll get back one of the IR crew so they can get Caggiula back to the AHL

For sure he does. He can generate offence all on his own. But he overshoots a bit. Meanwhile McDrai look for more premium oppurtunities. So I wonder if that’s why Knob keeps him away from McDrai. Let Skinner do his thing… and let McDrai do their thing…

I'd still put him in that top 6 spot with either player. I don't think the coaches is utilizing him properly at all. Its nonsense to put a goal scorer like him in a checking role. Hurts him and hurts the team both ways offensively. Needs to end this shit now. Put him in a top 6 spot against CBJ or Knob can stfu.

And yet no goals. If they played the entire game like the third period maybe we're having a different conversation. At some point your scorers have to score and while Hill played well I don't think we got in his eyes once all night.

McDrai just skating around passing it to whoever. Not an impressive game by either one. And Vegas knows if you contain those two you beat the Oilers.

The % on the graphic was “lately” at an .890. I can’t remember exactly but it was probably the last 10 games.
Since Nov 9th or something because the game before was probably repulsive lol

I can see the Oiler braindead braintrust calling intot he SNET truck

"Quick! SHow a graphic of how Skinner is trending up! "

That's my point. He's working his butt off including backchecking and being a hound for the puck. No reward aside from being kept in a bottom 6 checking role. It's ridiculous.

People won't like this but maybe just maybe its not the greatest f***ing idea having Connor Brown (I can't score in an empty net) on the topsix with Drai. I just despise this useless turd by now. He had the tying goal on his stick 6X and cashes nothing. WTF with this guy. You lose games like this becaue half a dozen players in this lineup that should be able to can't score a goal to save their lives.

Look at the chances Brown whiffed in this game on gorgeous feeds. What a f***ing tosser.
I don't have your hatred for the player, but I do agree that he's not cutting on the 2nd line. Hopefully Arvy and Hyman can return and push him down.

Meanwhile he panics and goes to the McDrai well too often and lets the inmates run the asylum when it comes to offensive schemes.

Maybe some coaching in the O zone is warranted at this point?

Yep, they'll never win the division and thus have to battle through not having home ice in large part because the management groups here don't give a f*** about goaltending and/or find it too hard and just put their head in the sand and pretend whatever they have is good enough.
Jacksons interview makes turds go back up people assxxxxxx.

It just sounds so clueless. Guy praising Skinner great play during the run... after team goes 7-2. Meanwhile Pickard posted better numbers during that time...Like what ?

I dunno man. Such a joke.

And it’s the job of our top 6 which eats up most of our cap space to be able to beat them. Our goals against numbers aren’t even bad. Our goals for numbers are the problem.

Islands in the stream.
They controlled the red zone in their zone. We didn’t get in Hills eyes at all or around the net for enough rebounds. Also gave up no odd man breaks.
Vegas didn't give up any odd man rushes because they refuse to mount any offense almost the entire game. It was like watching Iceland play Belgium in Football. When Vegas were in own end without puck they had 4 players tight to net like they were killing a penalty. Most of the game they wee doing this. The zone time was embarassing. Sure they barely managed the ugly win, they got a luck, and they got the fortune of guys like Brown, Nuge, Skinner etc spitting out candy all day. These 3 had empty net looks. All around the net, all in HDSC areas around the net but not finishing anything.

The last 5 or so games hes been good.

Adding a shoot first mentality to the top 6 wouldnt hurt.

It would also stop alot of these stupid drop passes or passes out of dangerous areas.
