When a goalie is hot like that the only thing you can do is try to screen him and get rebounds. We didn’t really try and do either.
Have to give Knights and Knights-like defences credit. Sometimes we look bullied out there and out of areas due to our size up front. Not to mention it’s a lot easier to defend with Prison Rules like we saw tonight. Same shit we saw in the SCFs in games 1-3 until we finally broke through it on the Rush.

Hill is also just a better goalie (like many others) than Skinner. Team Canada absolutely made the correct call.

Is what it is. They have a clear advantage in net and it will be a problem if we face them in a playoff series. He's a difference maker against us.
Clearly, Hill is the more talented goalie and its interesting how the Knights have gone over a lot of film concerning Bouchard. Those shots aren't getting thru with the same regularity. The opposition inevitably adjusts.

To be fair, a shooter tutor is probably a more talented goalie, but I catch your drift

Vegas didn't give up any odd man rushes because they refuse to mount any offense almost the entire game. It was like watching Iceland play Belgium in Football. When Vegas were in own end without puck they had 4 players tight to net like they were killing a penalty. Most of the game they wee doing this. The zone time was embarassing. Sure they barely managed the ugly win, they got a luck, and they got the fortune of guys like Brown, Nuge, Skinner etc spitting out candy all day. These 3 had empty net looks. All around the net, all in HDSC areas around the net but not finishing anything.
Well yeah, why would you cheat for offense if you don't have to? It's called responsible hockey.

Every team marks the Oilers coming to town on their calendar and probably do more video on us than other teams. Is what it is, you're not going to suprise anyone when you were just in game 7 of a Cup Final and you have the best player in the world, everyone looks at that game as a measuring stick.

Knoblaugh isn't coaching any adjustments on the offensive side of the ice from what I can see.

Meanwhile he panics and goes to the McDrai well too often and lets the inmates run the asylum when it comes to offensive schemes.

Maybe some coaching in the O zone is warranted at this point?

Same old shit with the McDrai loadup like every other coach we've had, so its nothing new lol. My main beef is the inability to adjust. The team played perimeter all f***ing game until 5 minutes where finally we had some shots from the point for rebounds that unfortunately didn't result in a goal. Played right into VGK's book where VGK just had to play defense since the Oilers were too keen on playing perimeter hockey.

Yes yes all the skinner hate aside this game is on the offence. Gotta bury.

Yep. NO matter what the goalie does if no one is going to score? But 90% of this boards default setting is just to blame S Skinner and no one else. Skinner .938 save % "Oh but he let in one goal" Oilers did not score

Skinner doesn't go to the dirty areas, doesn't forecheck well, doesn't skate well and quite frankly thought he was here for the ride instead of trying to drive the bus once in a while. Hes a deer caught looking at a headlight and just can't recover. He is what he is.

The last 5 or so games hes been good.

Adding a shoot first mentality to the top 6 wouldnt hurt.

It would also stop alot of these stupid drop passes or passes out of dangerous areas.

Oilers need top 6 scoring wingers? Jeff Skinner! Bottom 6 you stay. Nah, Connor Brown is more ideal - Oilers coaching staff.

Yeah Knoblaugh has basically one offensive adjustment period ... put McDavid and Draisaitl together, lol. I mean you gotta have a little more than that.

But what does that actually tell you about this team? They still haven't changed. If they play vegas in the playoffs who is going to win?

Yup, Vegas had us all wrapped up for the majority of the game. They played excellent defensive hockey.

That's not true whatsoever. Skinner's been playing well lately. If he's what the bolded is, then WTF is Top 6 version of Connor Brown?

I think a huge problem with this team is d-men who cannot get the puck on net. They defer down the boards too much instead of walking the line and shooting on net. That said, this team is allergic to setting up traffic and gunning for rebounds.

Even Ryan is doing dumbass drop passes. You're on the 4th line FFS, drive the net and keep your sick on the ice.
It really seems to be an issue this year. Missing nets and Bouch bombs are being blocked now that he’s on the NHL’s radar after the playoffs.

Plot twist: Knob press boxes Jeff Skinner when Hyman returns, keeps the forward lineup as is

He’s also scored 30 goals 6 times. The fact a waiver claim who had 20 goals once 5 years ago is getting more top 6 looks is baffling.

I don't care....I laugh when people blame him every time a goal is scored
he isn't the main concern IMO...this team gets "goalied" far too often and have been shutout 4 times already this year...it's game 25
If every single goal is a bad goal the definition of a bad goal has no meaning anymore.
