Ceci's were a lot better than Nurse. -12 corsi relative for Darryl. Ouch.
Yes. Those offer sheets moved up your cap crunch by a year. Smart move by St Louis. Gutting y'all of depth an offseason early and having to take some rather huge risky swings on NHL nobodies like Podkolzin and Emberson. If some of these roster moves don't work out... your coach is going to have to overplay your aging team even more than he usually does. Coming off a season that saw the Oilers play until game 7 of the finals, lose and have to start all the way back at square one. Fatigue and wear/tear will take their toll eventually.
Going to be a long grind of a year just to get back to the playoffs and now that you've traded away several of your more durable guys... good luck getting their intact.
NHL is a parity league and that is very clear with what happened to the Oilers this week.
You are looking at a single stat that is rarely used. But if you want to look at relative stats.

Nurse -12.02
Ceci -17.39
Broberg -19.96
We kept the best of the 3 from the playoffs.
Losing 2 players isn't all of our depth.
Traded away several of our more durable guys?
Foegele, McLeod, Ceci...sure. Broberg and Holloway injured quite a bit.
Jeff Skinner has only missed a grand total of 13 games the last 3 years, thats durable, Arivdsson yeah, not the most durable, Podkozlin doesn't seem injury prone and Emberson had a rough year with injuries but the last 2 years had pretty much played every game he could.
Forwards wise we actually have a few players who are ready or could be close to ready to take that next step and see playing time. Lavoie, Savoie, Jarventie. For defense we have Gleason and Wanner who look like they are ready to see some games as well, so its not like we have literally no young players left in the org.
It is a long grind to get there but thankfully we aren't over the cap and we will be accuring cap for the deadline for a bit to fix that defense by the deadline. Emberson is a downgrade on Ceci but based on how we played later into the year and playoffs, our D's strength is its system so in the short term it may not be all that damaging, but there is hope for an upgrade at the deadline.
We also have the opportunity to Vegas it if Kane misses longer than expected or Arvidsson gets hurt later in the year. Thats a potential lot of cap we can use at the deadline. This team is good enough as is to make it in a playoff spot in a top 2 spot and still has cap and assets to improve at the deadline.
Its unfortunate losing Broberg and Holloway but it would have been awful moving out cap to fit their combined $7 mill contracts. It was a no win for us.
