value could be interesting for both teams... but theres no way to make the contract work for Edmonton... they cant be adding another 6-7 mill forward when they have so much work to do on their blueline.

and theres no way this deal makes sense unless marchand is resigning...

as for boston though... I kind of like this deal quite a lot. reinhart and yakupov are clearly wildcards... both developing slower than expected. pouliot is no where near marchand as far as a player goes... but pouliots contract sort of makes sense for a rebuilding team.

I suppose if Edmonton was planning to deal eberle for a dman it might make more sense to get marchand but right now Edmonton has McDavid, Hopkins, lucic, eberle, draisailt and probably the new kid all slotted to be making 6 mill per year and more come 3 seasons from now... a 7th guy at that type of money just doesn't make sense

How are you a Bruins fan? Seriously, pick a different team..

Wow, a 1st overall pick, and two 4th overall picks for Marchand?

No chance he's worth that much.

I can't take an offer like this seriously. Is Ebs a LW? That would be Looch, Ebs and Pouliot to round up that side which is pretty good as it is, no? Hanging on to Yakupov would seem like a good idea, too. Having McDavid and Lucic out on the PP to open things up for him might work out for everybody this year.

No they didn't run him out of town. He in fact was a good player while he was a Bruin. They just didn't want to resign him. Edmonton had to over pay to get him. Don't know why but.....

......because he had a bounce back season with the Rangers after bombing in TB.

What? This is brutal for us. We lose our only scoring lw for a hope and a prayer and a cap dump no one liked the first time around. When did we start a rebuild? If we are starting one you sure want a lot better pieces coming our way than this. This also does zero to address our biggest need D

Once players become established their draft position means nothing. Pouliot was a Bruin and we didn't bring him back. The other two are close to becoming busts. If they were actually draft picks the it's a different story.

I don't know what made me laugh harder, the OP, or your post.

Yakupov is toast, Pouliot is a scrub, and Reinhart = Morrow.

The equivalent Bruins package is Jimmy Hayes, Joe Morrow, Koko. Let's go try to peddle that package for another teams 37 goal scorer.

we disagree a bit about the oiler side of things

and marchand repersents a problem to resign. obviously if marchand could be extended hed be worth more... if we were cup contenders the next 3 years we should just extend him and risk the dead cap space when hes 32 33 34

its the same decesion we were forced to make with lucic. the return is likely to be similar to lucic.

i personally think both yakupov and reinhart still have good nhl futures. they are stuck behind a ton of better young prospects in edmonton.

would i rather have 2 middle to late first round picks for marchand like we got for lucic?

this is reality... this is the type of trade that happens in the nhl. trades are about contracts... about agendas... about fits...

i dont blame you for not wanting marchand dealt... i dont want him dealt either... but it might be too risky to keep him considering all factors

pouliot improved with age... same can be said for ex-bruin mike knuble. same could be said for ex-bruin charlie simmer... same could be said for ex-bruin johnny boychuk

turns out alot of guys bounce around in their early 20s... the raw talent is there, but the effort might not be?

pouliot tracks alot like knuble who got better and better until his mid 30s.

solid 2way guy with size and good pocession numbers. hes a much much better player today than he was when we had him

just a realist... i cant get into all the lets trade an expiring ufa contract for a number 1 dman talk favored by most fan boys.

trades like boychuk for 2 seconds dont catch me by surprise... i post stuff like that months before it happens. i post joe thornton and tyler seguin stuff months before it happens and people rip me apart and call me a horrible fan

then the real trade happens and turns out my proposals were better

sorry guy, but i deal in reality. i dont cry how chiaelli and sweeny suck because they couldnt get connor mcdavid for jimmy hayes

now reality says neely wont allow a deal with chiarelli so my opinion on value is moot... but if marchand is dealt this would be a good return

and if he is resigned we will all be wanting a buyout in the last couple years

sorry that sucks for me to say... but i deal in reality

Funny how Pouliout will improve "into his mid 30s" while Bruins fans will be lamenting Marchand's inevitable buyout at age 34.

They could if you had McDavid.

Not a fan of Marchand so no thanks.
Edit: Even though this is clearly a quality for quantity trade.

Very funny your GM would break his arm trying to get the paper work turned in before Bostons management has their haze wear off.

Normally the first step is think about what the needs of each team are ... i believe this violates the first rule

I don't buy that Neely won't allow a deal to happen with Chiarelli. If they had a deal that they believe helps them then they would make it. Re-signing Marchand probably helps more than taking on players who are kind of the opposite of what the Bruins are looking for(Yakupov). Being a realist you should easily see that Yakupov just isn't a Bruin type of player and they probably value him even less than most teams. You should also see that Pouliot is a good 3rd liner who has some nice skill but is a 3rd liner. He has worked on his consistency, that is what has made him better. He can play up in the lineup but he isn't ideal, he's ideal for the 3rd line.

Don't you think a better deal if they were going to deal Marchand could be found? I would be looking for a 1st round pick rather than former 1st round picks who look like busts. My guess is that they could find a deal that looks similar to the Lucic deal for Marchand. I would much rather do that than this deal.

A guy who is good for 30+ goals, cap space and a 4th rounder for...

1 - an inconsistent top 6 forward who is probably good for 40 points
2 - a project defenceman
3 - an unproven forward prospect that's been given tons of chances
4 - a 2nd rounder
5 - less cap space

So not only is this a ****** offer but why do people keep making Boston and Edmonton offers. We won't see a trade between the two for a very long time.
