I think the Oilers are done breaking in rookie Dmen.

They pretty much have three in their lineup right now. Kesselring was probably never gong to play.
Maybe, maybe not. He's been developing really nicely and it always takes D men longer to come into their own, especially at that size.

You also never know what can happen, we lost 2 top 4 staples due to things completely out of our control.

I just really don't like it, would rather have thrown another pick at them.

He's turning 25 this year and in his 5th season in the AHL. He isn't comparable at all to a 23 year old in his 2nd year.

Dineen is just a contract.

I mean, he played in the NHL last year on one of the worst teams in the league and put up points and has put up more than Kesselring has this year in the AHL.

I like Kesselring but it's quite possible than they're both just AHL farm swaps. Value of Kesselring as a bigger RHD is obviously higher since he has more 'magic bean mystique' left being a year and a half younger or whatever, so probably part of how they got the retention.

In the current day, this deal is not lopsided though. Could end up being so, for sure.

That too. Unless they are some kind of a phenom, we can't keep breaking in this many young D at once.

He had an 8.2 shooting percentage with only 9 assist ls this year. Last year his shooting % was 2.3.

This seasons goal totals are an outlier folks.
If you look at literally every other hockey season he has played...yes

I like Kesselring as a prospect, and will wish him the best in Arizona. But he's probably a 3rd pairing Dman if he makes the NHL. Not sure there's top-4 potential in him, but I guess we'll see. I'll cheer for him just as I cheer for Bear to do well in Vancouver (which is kind of conflicting).

Dineen looks like an interesting prospect/project. One year older than Kesselring, but is scoring at a better pace in the AHL this season. There may yet be some potential NHL upside in this guy.

Hate to give up on Kesselring but that's the cost of being a contender. Bjugstad could easily re-sign at a discount over his FA price due to McDrai which would swing the value even more towards our side.

Pros: Not terrible defensively at 5v5, can score the odd goal, big.

Cons: Terrible PKer (in fact, this is the first year he even played regular PK), not the greatest on draws, the price sucks and is way too high.

This is a big C- trade for Holland, Bjugstad hopefully helps the 4th line at 5v5 but this is maybe a step ahead of say, the Brassard deal.

I know real time stats aren't always accurate but Bjugstad has been credited with more hits this season than any Oiler
I'd say he's kind of like Foegele. He records a decent number of hits, but they're pretty much just little bumps because you can tell he only hits because he's told to instead of wanting to.
