As wired as it sounds, I'm not high on the idea of moving Campbell.

I think he's better than he showed, and I can see him rebounding next year. But the big reason is Skinner; he's still a young, and I'd prefer to keep a stable (and supportive) goalie tandem for him.

Plus with a sophomore starting goalie, you're still going to need to spend a bit on a 1b/high end backup, so I don't see a ton of cap savings anyway. Goalies are voodoo, and I'd rather go with the devil we know.

Or buy out / trade Campbell and trade one of Yamamoto and Fogele.
Trade Campbell is favourable.
With a buyout and then needing to sign another goalie would you actually have any cap saving? Very little I suspect. I don’t think you are buying th guy out or trading him after year one.

A trade with 1 million retention is favourable. Campbell is not a awful goalie, he is a 1.25 million vet backup. But at 5 million, he is by far the wi
Orst contract on the team. And is replaceable. His technic is very suspect, looks ECHLish.

Meanwhile Yamamoto looks good, thats when he is at bottom 6. And if there wasnt a cupcrunch, I would kept him.

Fogele is actual useful, and a capcrunch is the only reason he goes. And for what cost? 2,7 millions is a standard contract in this league for an experied bottom 6er. 3.1 m$
Yamamoto is at least 3 millions. But once again. Its like swallowing elephants, and shooting mosquitos. Its not Yamamoto nor Fogele that is a problematic contract. 4- 5 million would be a fantastic capsave. And meanwhile Holloway and Lavoie prob. comes up next year, one of Yam and Fog can be traded. Thats7-8 million in cap. So trading Campbell is No 1. Trading Yamamoto or fogele is No.2

The rest is resign material.
Janmark could be replaced, but for what you get at 1,25 million. You could just keep him, you dont save much by replacing him.

I agree...Campbell does have much more to give.
I guess the question is...does Campbell provide that stability?

I mean the one thing Campbell has been consistent at is being inconsistent.

And there is a reason why they offered him BACKUP money.

When we signed him I was happy

Yes, the reason is they didn't have the cap. Something you rant on about the Oilers not having, all of the time, so I know you are aware. If they did, they might have paid up for Kuemper as well.

If Bjugstad resigning is in doubt, why isn’t Noah Philp part of the black aces? Would he not be next man up within the organization for 23-24

I think Campbell can be better. Its hard to not see an improvement next year. His general career stats have been much higher that this season.

But I honestly think hes never going to be a really stable goalie. Highs and lows. Similar to Smith really in terms of the roller coaster. I dont watch other teams play that much but I do wonder what made the pro scouts/management choose him. (I do think all of the options had some risk to them though).

My error. But the shallowest part of the pool is RW. Each should challenge Yamo and Ryan for RW spots or 4C if Bjugstad or McLeod doesn’t resign

Zero chance McLeod doesn't come back as RFA. Bjugstad? All depends on $$.
Agreed on McLeod, arbitration number is 837500 so sign him @$1M for multiple years. Can we sign Bjugstad for < $2M. If so, Lavoie at $850K and trading Yamo gets them close

If we could somehow move him without paying too much I would, but for the most part I agree.

I would agree in general that Yamamoto might be the odd man out. They won't move Campbell, might consider Ceci. And it all depends on what Bouchard gets. If he signs for multi year above $5M....cap hell. (Even if we move Yamo.)

If Bjugstad can gum up center ice and play huge in the defensive slot he'll be a major difference maker in this series.

This center has the making to seriously disrupt the Golden Knights transition game by being positionally sound and using his huge reach to block passing lanes... be in constant communication with the defencemen regarding coverage.

Unsung hero in the making.
