I dunno about that. I think this break has come at a perfect time. When teams know they can be better but are still winning they usually work on things as soon as a loss comes, and some time off to work.couldn't agree more. Of course, it won't really matter if the Leafs simply play better from here on out, but that's probably too optimistic
Shooting far pad on 3 on 3 is honestly not that smart. POP happen when a guy doesn’t have a lane to the net and also doesn’t have a passing lane to the trailing forward. Which doesn’t typically happen on 3 on 3 because things are so wide open. Willy had a clear lane to the net and chose to fire a low percentage shot instead. Even if it was intended as a PAss off pads, it was a 50/50 chance of JT burying or an odd man rush going the other way. The far safer play was to go hard to the net, make koski make the tough save, and if there’s garbage leftover it would still be a 50/50 play for JT and the trailing defender to clear out. Far less likely to go back the other way. I respect what your saying, just doesn’t make much sense given it’s 3 on 3 IMOAgain he was shooting far pad for a rebound, Tavares was coming down the middle. Koskinen played it great and put it to the corner whether he was trying to or was just late putting the pad out. Not against nylander taking that shot, he’s shown on multiple occasions he can finish coming down the wing. If he walks in and Koskinen makes a save he probably gets caught behind the red line anyways and the oilers have an odd man rush the other way regardless.
I'm worried that our record (which is good) doesn't reflect the quality of our play (which is bad). If it keeps up, we'll see things come crashing down as it always does eventually.
Same here. I liked their response after going down 2. Lots of positives this roady. Still lots to work on, but It was a very successful business trip.Happy we got a point in the end. It was good to see the team not give up when down by two.
Unfortunately for the Leafs a lot of their best skaters: Kerfoot, Mikiheyev, Engvall, have no offensive ability. So you end up putting John Tavares out there against McDavid. LOL.
The only game that we won that we had no business winning was #1 against Montreal.
Were we amazing in all the rest? No. Did we deserve to lose them? No.
It's nice that the boys are getting some rest.
Keefe has to plan some load management. We end the season with 19 games in 35 days. We will be exhausted going into the playoffs
Sorry we lost the game. Glad we got the point. Thankful to be able to watch a talent like McDavid, just a joy to behold.
7/8 points and Vancouver coming up. Have a good eve, everyone.
Wow spitting some spicy takes bro.
Columbus took out Tampa the year before pandemic and went far. What about their run that playoffs?
They're a good team. Well coached. Got some crazy ass goaltending against us but we were equally as unlucky 5v5. But I wouldn't say they are garbage team.
Ya that’s fair, I 100% understand your side. While I don’t completely disagree with him shooting it there a POP in 3 on 3 has a lot less defensive coverage than 5 on 5, if JT misses it it’s an odd man rush anyways and the coverage was pretty good on him with 2 guys in the middle. I think i misread your original post a bit and thought you were saying he completely missed the net and was more making the point of what he was trying to do and that he didn’t miss the net and rim it. It was a nice play by Koskinen to direct that to the corner based on the situation. Regardless though you definitely raise a good point on POP vs driving in that situation.Shooting far pad on 3 on 3 is honestly not that smart. Never said they were great or skilled. But they arent garbage. Definitely not.Yooooo, CBJ is not a great hockey team lol, you take away that system that begs people to sleep and they are below pedestrian, good on Torts to recognize the team he has but don’t pretend for a second they are some skilled team that is worth what they get to...they are this eras NJD 1-4 boring as fck depends on their D and goalie to get a pint or two...sorry that has never been hockey...like I said good on them for recognizing it, doesn’t mean I have to respect them though...build a real team then come talk to me
Agreed, just look at this!McDavid is simply incredible.
Guy is just electric.

He can carry them for several games but not for a season or a play off run. Guy needs much more support on the back end.Not our best game, happy we got the one point. McDavid really can put that team on his back - it's truly amazing.
Keefe putting out JT to start the 3 on 3 was a terrible, inexcusable, decision.
Don't worry too much, it wasn't a complete loss because they finished the game tied in regulation so they got a point. Winning 3 of 4 in Alberta is pretty good and even the only loss wasn't really a loss because they salvaged a point.I heart winning
I hate losing
He is gassing too early. His rush took all his steam.Nylander went out, tried to score the game-winner. When that didn't happen, he lost interest
and jumped off the ice. He had no interest in trying to be anything of a defensive force.
