I d think 10th pick will return a decent 4-5th rhd. 10th+2nd will definitely return a 20min 4th RD.

Hall > 10th, so I m with NJ fans with that value

So, you'd trade Dumba for a 10th( which could also be a 15th, or a 5th)? You'd be making EDM stronger, while MN old have to wait till about 2020 before they see any return( if any, 10th OA picks flame out all the time). EDM would then be in a better position to beat MN out of a playoff spot.

The trade to make this year was a Brodin/Scandella for Buff #1 this year, or for BOS #1 plus a Spooner.

No GM trades for a #1 that could be anywhere from a 5-15, unless there are other significant pieces involved, I.e. Dumba+ Haula for RNH+ EDM 1st.
Dumba isn't a 20 min 4th RHD. Suter, Spurgeon, Scandella, and Brodin all play 20+ minutes a night. Dumba is a #5 powerplay specialist at the moment that looks ripe for Vegas

The post I quoted had a 4-5 Dman going for the #10, and a 20 min 4RHD FOR A 10th +. I would say that it would be silly to discount the potential to improve of a young RHDman such as Dumba, and also ignore that the reason he isn't playing top 4 is because the Wild have a log jam of D ahead of him.

Anyway, that's quibbling. Bottom line, no way the Wild trade Dumba for an EDM 1st that could be anything from a 5-15. You can label him as a 4 or 5 but that is ignoring context. On some teams he's be a 3, on some #4, other's a #5. Some teams( BUFF, Jets) don't need RHD, so they won't give up much for him. Others need a solid defensive Dman and could care less about a PPQB because they don't need them.

It's all pretty fluid.

I do agree that at least one of MN's Dmen is going to Vegas unless Fletcher makes some bold moves.

Unless we are including a 3rd for a brain to come along with Dumba there no deal to be had . Dumba has so much talent just no sure his brain will ever let him use that talent .

Also I thought the Wild fans did not want RNH . I guess maybe seeing him and the World Cup of Hockey has change peoples mind . The Oilers (Rumoured) already turned down RNH for Dumba . Haula doesn't get a mid 1st

Wild fans have never been completely opposed to Nuge, just not for the caliber of defenseman we would need in return for him.

Unless the Wilds season implodes for some weird reason I don't see any moves on the back end happening until the entry draft.

I think by December teams will know where they stand and will have a better feeling of where the Oilers pick could land up(I guess thats all pretty obvious)

I thought they wanted an add from the Oilers

The discussions I have had have went something like this.

Us - You want Nuge? We want Spurgeon+

Them - We wouldn't do Spurgeon at all. Dumba for Nuge. We might add a bit.

Us - Don't want Dumba, the add would need to be massive. Spurgeon?

Them - No Spurgeon. Maybe Brodin.

Us - We don't need Brodin, we need someone better. You would have to add to Brodin anyway.

Them - No adds, Brodin is fair. Not sure if I'd even do Brodin for Nuge. Nuge isn't even an upgrade on what we have.

And it would usually spiral to unreasonableness on both sides from there if it hadn't already.

This is pretty much on point from what I can recall when the two fan bases get together

Canucks offer Luca Sbisa. Oilers get their rough and tumble body moving/clearing d-man they lack. Canucks get 1st overall pick in 2017.

Or, more likely, the Canucks keep Sbisa and get the 1st overall pick in 2017.
