I am not Brian Boyle's biggest fan, most here can attest to that.

Brian Boyle is a 4th liner with exceptional PK ability and an above average face off guy.

If I am trading him, I want McCarron and the 3rd in return at the very least.

McCarron is a big bodied project that may turn out to be what Brian Boyle is today.

The only reason I would consider this is to shed the salary to make additional room should someone sneak up on us with an offer sheet for Stepan.

Other wise, I'd prefer to keep Boyle.

There's no incentive to trade Boyle.

So the price for Boyle is a 1st + 3rd at least, i'll pass. Good day sir!

I wouldn't either, not now.

We are a soft small team. Boyle is a big player with the ability to stand up for his teammates. He scored from and played well on the wing in the POs. He is a very good 4th line center. I want to see how things sort themselves out. On paper, Asham and Pyatt is definitely the players I'd get rid of if possible.i wonder if it is possible though.

Things will be clearer what we have in mid October. Lindberg, Fasth, and/or JT Miller could be steady top 9 forwards for us by then. Kristo? 9 unimpressive AHL games is not a great sign, but he is a talented player. How good will Pouliot be?

McIlrath? I have a feeling that AV could like him, but maybe it's a bit too early...

There's really no room for Miller, Kristo or Lindberg to make the team, especially if JTM or OL are going to play center. Even if they move to wing, there are no spots available unless someone goes down with injury. I guess Kreider, Kristo, Fast and Miller could be battling for the same spot, but I think the Rangers are going to give it to Kreider again unless one of the others has a spectacular camp.

I guess if the kids really impress, we could see a lot of moves made.

Roster makeup before the Stepan signing...

If both Stepan and Mashinter sign - we are at 48 contracts. Can see us moving 1-2 players if rehab goes smoothly for Hags/Cally and/or if any young guns look good at training camp. Likely to go would be

1. Powe
2. Pyatt
3. Asham
4. Boyle

Or just do nothing for a while after demoting Asham or Powe to the AHL as we can then still squeeze in under the cap (pending Stepans deal), especially if Stepan only gets a bridge deal now (which I think is looking more & more likely). Maybe 3 years at 3,3-3,5 range.

Maybe something like:

• Demote Powe
• Keep a kid up or do a signing of a short term reclamation project ladded with bonuses (something like 1 + 1). Candidates here would be someone like Raymond, Morrow, Prospal...
• Trade Pyatt (for a pick when injuries become a factor but before Cally and/or Hags return)

Boyles a huge guy, and most huge guys have lousy balance on skates. Especially when they're caught off guard. Hell, even Chara gets dumped on his ass from time to time. Falling on your ass doesn't make a guy soft. That's asinine.

No, he's allowed to go down.

The problem I have is the ratio in which he is the one picking himself up off the ice is greater than the guy he's hitting.

He 100% saw it coming. If he was surprised that a physical player was going to play him physically, then that is a bigger problem.

He completely knew it was coming and was made to look foolish.
