Lol at Nash being one of the worst contracts.. Take a look at the deals this offseason for UFA and then try to say a guy on pace last year for 80+ points has one of the worst deals
Only players making more than Rick Nash
Alexander Ovechkin ($9.5m / nothing needs to be said)
Evgeni Malkin ($8.7m -> $9.5m / nothing needs to be said)
Sidney Crosby ($8.7m / nothing needs to be said)
Corey Perry ($8.625m / Hart Winner, Stanley Cup Champion, still an over payment)
Eric Staal ($8.25m / 7 consecutive 70+ point seasons, Stanley Cup Champion)
Ryan Getzlaf ($8.25m / 4 seasons over a PT/GM, Stanley Cup Champion)
Rick Nash ($7.80m / 1 season over 70 points, 2 playoff appearances (both no shows), Rocket Richard 10 years ago)
Sure, Nash had a solid 48 game season, but let's not pretend that he isn't one of the most overpaid superstars in the NHL. Bottom line is, he is getting paid like one of the top-10 players in the NHL, and he isn't even close to it. So, in terms of value, it's a bad contract. I don't know how you, or anyone else, can't see that. He's getting paid top tier money, long term, and he isn't on those players levels. Can he prove otherwise? Sure, he can. But this season he didn't. An 80 point pace over 48 games is nice, but having 1 goal in 12 games in the post season completely negates it, especially when he wasn't even hurt and admitted that himself (even though fans wanted to convince themselves Nash was playing hurt).
Anyone on here can probably rattle off 30 forwards better than him all making less money than him.
