If we deal Del Zotto and the main piece coming back is Kyle Clifford I'm gonna neuter myself with a weedwhacker.

would never happen anyway. LA don't need more D, they don't need much more anything really.....they just need to shed cap space.

What if he wants more than that? Talks are going nowhere, and he probably wants what McDonagh got.

or Sather is trying to bridge him this year and pay him more later and they want a long term deal now? Callahan and Dubi both signed in late July, Staal in 2010 went all the way until the eve of training camp. It will get done.

Actually with the loss of Penner, they might need another top-6 winger if they're unsure of Toffoli's ability to produce in that role.

He looked good down the stretch though, so I'd have to think he'll get the chance to prove himself there without worrying about a UFA acquisition in his way.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: great quote.

Clifford is more of what we already have.

Clifford is a slightly more skilled, more tenacious and nastier version of what we have.

Would love Clifford, but not at the cost of MDZ, obviously.

LA would be stupid to give him up for anything short of overpayment, his value is worth far more to them than on the trade market. I know it's a phrase used over and over again on these boards, but from watching the Kings, it really is true.

I would not give up MDZ for Clifford. But I would consider other things. He is a good 3rd liner.

that's just not true.

Only comparable player on our team is Dorsett. And I sound like a broken record but I DO think need one more guy that can drop the gloves at a given time.

Because of this stupid title, everything our off season will be for the next 25 pages (and the last 15 pages) and for the rest of July is going to be about Del Zotto and Boyle being trade bait. Sigh.

No offense, Jabroni.

How could you possibly know that talks are going nowhere?

Speculated by Brooksie:

* There is no progress regarding talks with Derek Stepan, sources report. Stepan, the club’s first-line center, is a Group II free agent without arbitration rights. Absent pressure points (or an unexpected offer sheet), negotiations with Stepan could well go into September and perhaps bleed into training camp.

Dont know why that'd be an issue. They're probably the most likely to go.

It's been widely reported.

Sort of. No progress to report doesn't mean no progress has ever been made. Talks might have stalled for a moment. My point was that we have no idea where they are in negotiations, so it's not worth worrying about yet. It's only July.

I would like nothing more than to preserve this post forever, but I'm not sure it's kosher enough for that.

I share your sentiment, in a less graphic way. If rumors are to be believed, they're looking more to trade Stralman than Del Zotto.

With 0 NHL games, what is the relevance of this comment and how much realizing does one need to do?

You know what you are right. Let's trade arguably are most promising center prospect (yes over Miller) who has only progressed playing in the SEL with grown men, being one of the top performers this past season, for a 3rd/4th liner....****ing stupid

What rumors? I see none.

So you are getting worked up over a prospect who by every right is promising and talented, but still hasn't played a single pro game in NA.

What's ****ing stupid is the fact that said promising center prospect is projected to slide into the other said 22 yrd olds '3rd/4th liners' spot...

So, what's the fuss again?
