Sounds like Sutter might be mulling over if he wants to come back or not, DL certainly wants him back. I think the room needs a new voice from a coaching perspective.

Not just Quick but everyone in the "core" of the team. Carter will be pushing 36. Kopitar will be 33. Those are your two main forwards past their prime.

Which is why I think Lombardi may target a high end center to start developing. He was after Zacha last year. Maybe that turns out to be someone on the Reign.

Just strange transitioning from winning now to building for the future. Quick will need to be replaced at some point. Even if he isn't moved the Kings will need to start looking for a back up that might be able to take over.

It also happens that for the first time in a long time there isn't a logjam at the goalie position.

Pretty interesting that Sutter hasn't accepted the extension yet. I thought for sure he'd want to come back at least 1 more season. I still think he does in the end but he sure doesn't seem enthusiastic about it.

I think management sat down and dissected the SJ series carefully; everything from playing styles, players, and coaching decisions. This summer is gonna be interesting.

Discussions with Lucic "are much farther along" than other FAs, via DL. Similar to before; first big contract to fall impacts other deals.

Asked about Dustin Brown's future, Lombardi said most recent discussions have centered on what went right/wrong, why team slid late.

I sure hope so. His decisions not to ice a hot AA and a competent Gravel over weaker players hurt our chances. But lets be honest, we were ****ed as soon as Martinez got injured, which is a depth issue that falls on DL.

Judging by the comments, Sutter might not come back. I wasn't happy with some of Sutter's decisions this year, but I can't imagine going through the coach hunting process all over again.

I doubt there will be much of a hunt at all. Stevens will almost certainly take over with Payne as top assistant (unless he gets an offer elsewhere), and the only hunt will be for assistant coach #2.

Said individual players hadn't been discussed. 'I don't think there's anybody more frustrated on an individual basis than Dustin himself.'

Yeah. He gave Sutter, Scuderi. What the **** did he think was going to happen.

Lombardi: "Sometimes I think he puts so much pressure on himself he starts gripping his stick.Clearly, we need more from him.

Too much went wrong for one roster move to make any impact. Kings weren't winning that series with Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Lucic, Doughty, and Quick getting outplayed by their counterparts.

Boudreau? I'm sure he'll go somewhere else, but he did coach the Monarchs so there's a connection with DL there.

Its obvious, STRIP HIM OF THE C. It did wonders for Joe Thornton.

Well it sounds like the team wasn't happy with the way Sutter handled things towards the final stretch of the season, which could mean that they were worn into the ground and burnt out. That whole mess spilled into the post-season, thus an early exit. Obviously our top guys got outplayed by Pavelski, Thornton, Burns, Vlasic, etc...

Conference call with Lombardi just cut off unexpectedly. Must be the coulombs.

So that was the weirdest conference call I have ever been on. Ever. I'm just.... Wow

Dean is getting lost in his own head with this big-picture challenge/recommitment/game-plan stuff. Just make better roster choices.

Media conference call w/ #LAKings GM Dean Lombardi ended abruptly due to technical issues. He has 11:00 AM mtg. No idea when we’ll finish.

Honestly, **** Stoll, Voynov, and Richards for betraying Dean's trust. I think the guy has totally changed since that whole **** storm and made him second guess himself.

That and the failed Sekera trade. And if Lucic walks too? Forget it, Dean is never making "risky" trades again.
