Sutter also ran Quick straight into the ground this year, overplaying the **** out of him. Not a fan of that at all, he did the same thing to Kiprusoff in Calgary.
sutter leans on his #1, but 68 games is not too much IMO. Anything over 70 is too much.
Excluding 2012-13 (lockout shortened) and 2013-14 (injury), this is the 2nd lowest amount of action Quick has seen since 2009.

Someone asked Rosen about Sutter and the players' relationship and Rosen pretty much side tracked the question and said something like how he understands that most players and coaches don't get along that well and only a few (specifically mentioned Cooper) really get along with their players.

where did you hear this?
Didn't Sutter say before the season the goal was to get Quick 65 starts and Doughty 25 minutes? I'm guessing that's why Enroth was so mad at the end of the season. Sutter probably told him he'd get 17 starts and instead he only got 13.
Lombardi is on a 5 year plan. My guess is that it involves not going all in for a cup every year, but trying to restock in the next couple of years to make another push before the rest of the core follows Brown off the cliff.
Quick? He's 30. If the plan is to get back to pushing for a cup in years 3-5 of the plan (I'm assuming that's the goal, don't know what else Lombardi would be aiming at). How's Quick going to look at 33-35? Some goalies hang around a long time, but Quick relying on his Quick-ness does he start to tail off before that window?
If the team isn't going to be competitive for the next 2 years how much longer after that does Quick have?
Could he be moved? Not being all in for the next year or 2 could change some things.
Edit:
A lot of teams would be willing to give his good assets and prospects for Quick. Its not everyday an elite goalie comes on the market. A few teams that would be interested are: Dallas, Edmonton, and Calgary. Can you imagine how good Dallas would be if they had Quick?
I mean what do you expect them to say? "Yeah we had a good start to the regular season, then **** the bed at the end there. Our top players have to be better." That's probably the extent of what would be said.

No way LA should deal Quick. His cap hit ($5.8) is a bargain for what he is capable to bring to the table. If LA dealt Quick we would be looking for a immediate Quick replacement as their is no time with this current group to develop.
I see what he's saying, though. No Sutter, DL, or Brown media talk after the season is awkward/weird.
Very interesting that teams want to talk to Stevens (and Payne?) though, considering current coaching vacancies. I imagine that's one of the discussions--Sutter, even if he comes back, isn't here forever, and Stevens is the heir apparent; what if sutter is only here for a year but stevens gets hired somewhere else?
Ooooh thank you for the heads up.
Yeah Quick is something like the 15th highest paid goalie...very few reliable workhorses in the league and precious few with his cup pedigree.
Price is a steal at 6.5 if he can stay healthy. There's no way we should trade Quick, fix the defense first and foremost. DL, Sutter, and Brown are all probably taking a long hard look at themselves and each other, they might be afraid to say the wrong things.

It kind of sort of made sense to trade Quick when they had Jones still. Would've saved a couple million off the cap for at least 2 seasons. I still would've kept Quick though. One of the best big time goalies in the NHL.
If the Kings are aiming for a window 3-5 years out, at what point does Quicks game start to tail off? At 35 is Quick still going to be Quick? Will he slow down earlier then other goalies due to style?

Lombardi: 'Darryl certainly has an offer on the table.'

DL says Darryl Sutter has offer "on the table." "There's an offer that's ... certainly respectable, but i don't think this is about money."
