I think Miller needs to be sent down. I wish Kreider was a center. I think Boyle should be the 3rd line center. I think his game has been improving.

Might want to have Powe in there instead of Asham. You look at the success of last night and a big part of it was the PK.

Lindberg for center depth? :sarcasm:

Wouldn't mind seeing Lindberg in the lineup.

I actually think Clowe and Boyle would work well together. Boyle needs a player that can pass the puck on his line, and Clowe is a playmaker. Put Hagelin on that line, and it would be a nightmare on the forecheck.

He's a 4th line player...

no thanks we have enough 4th liners on this team. we need better 3rd liners or a coach that will allow miller and krieder to play on the 3rd line and grow.

Dunno if nystrom will do any good on this team. Clowe i think will fit in the 3rd line and if paired with cally i think those 2 will wreak havoc on teams.

I am going to be pretty pissed if the price for Clowe include any of Kreider/Miller/Hagelin/Fast.

I don't think the Rangers would include any of those guys in a deal for Clowe. At most I could see them giving up a mid tier prospect and a later pick. Though he has 0 goals this season, I could live with giving the guy a change of scenery for a low cost.

The price for Clowe to start was stupid silly. He has been a shell of his actual productive self. None of those players should go the other way. Prospect and a draft pick. He is no Jagr or Iginla.

I think I'd rather have Glencross though. Or both Glencross and Clowe somehow. 3rd and 4th line LWers. The depth and grit we have been missing all year.

Funny what? He's an excellent forechecker. Just because you say things doesn't make them true.

Fine with him as the 4th line center. Get a 3C like Goc. Fixed.

He's not an excellent forechecker. Just cause you say things..... He's a clod. He enters the zone with bad intentions and accomplishes nothing. He can block shots and win some draws; that's it. If you give him more credit than that you are biased in his favor. I went to the game last night. Guys in my row were saying it's pathetic how bad he is when he's not sliding to block a shot.

Having said that I too am fine with him as a 4th line center and my comments about him sucking are in the context of his current role of 3rd line player.

even with this being a sellers market, i like the fact that most gm's are holding onto top prospects hopefully sathers can work some magic using the same formula.

really wish we had lottery protected our first in the nash deal like stl did for jaybo

Piggybacking on to this^, does anyone think we can get top dollar for Stralman from Boston?

Stralman + third for a 1st?

1) Why are we moving people from our already thin defense?
2) Boston's pick is in play for Jagr. We can't get it.

IDK why the Flyers are buying, but whatever.

I feel like Torts would have a love affair with Clowe if he came here. I'm talking like 20 mins of TOI.

The reason the Flyers are interested is because they build with size and toughness up front and Clowe wants to sign an extension where he goes. They did the same with Hartnell and Timmonen. Buying a player who can help now and in the future. Makes sense.

I think someone asked about Nystrom before.

I don't see why unless someone like Pyatt goes back.

I am going to be pretty pissed if the price for Clowe include any of Kreider/Miller/Hagelin/Fast.

It won't be. Not even Iginla returned that.

I would love to add both Glencross and Clowe and have them both around past this season. However, Glencross and Clowe would be the 2nd and 3rd line LWers. Not 4th.

4th line energy guy. Hard working and alright defensively, but that's about it.

Not the biggest fan but he would definitely fit the mold of this team better than Pyatt who can't keep up with the play in this system. Also another PKer I believe.

What are the "bad intentions" you speak of? Do tell...

I am not a Boyle lover but I do think he offers a lot more than most would such as the Newbury's of the world. I don't see centers out there on the market that would be able to replace him. He has been winning more faceoffs, going to the front of the net more, finishing his checks a lot better, has been better down low behind the net in the cycle game, and yes I think his forechecking has been adequate. He's sufficient to be a 3rd/4th line center on this team. He should NOT be on the PP so I'm not sure what Torts was thinking last night with that. He doesn't have gifted hands to pass or shoot. But he makes for a good checking line center and he does well on the PK. Those are two things we need to have right now. We suck as it is with PK player depth as well as quality faceoff depth.

Any rumored defenseman out there to replace Hamrlik?

It's great that you went to game. I saw the game on TV. Yeah, I know people say "oh it's easier to follow the play when you're there live", but I see plenty of things just fine on TV, especially with DVR. Boyle is playing a lot better as of late. He made two blunders in the first period last night, but was better the rest of the way. He's forechecking and getting into the play unlike in the beginning of the year, where he was a complete passenger.

I'd prefer Boyle as my 4th line C - but, in a third line role, with good players, it's not the end of the world. Boyle has been playing with a multitude of random bodies switching in and out of the lineup, unlike last year, where he was pretty much with Prust/Fedotenko/Dubinsky the entire season. Clowe/Hagelin is an upgrade on all 3 of those players.

Regarding Nystrom - he's an upgrade to the bottom-6 that shouldn't cost much. He's tough and can provide a spark offensively. Prust-lite. I would love to acquire him. Especially if it meant dumping Bland Pyatt.

Clowe brings more than that - he is more of a playmaker, anyway. He's tough, big, and a pest. He plays LW. Put him on a 3rd line with Hagelin, and that equals DEPTH.

wow.....just looked at his stats. Hes 30 years old ( far from over the hill ), i'd take a shot on him if it doesnt cost much. I would have to say he is having an off year......or just not playing with quality line mates??? 6'2, 225 lbs.....im in !

I don't understand some people's obsessions with dudes over 35 years old... for the most part, these guys slow down a TON after that.

Who would they be ahead of? Hagelin is ahead of them right now. And I think you have Zucc ahead of them also just because of who he plays with.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Zuccarello-Richards-Gaborik
Clowe-Boyle-Callahan
Glencross-Miller-Powe/Asham

Why are we watching teams get better. I would've loved Roy for the 2c. Stepan and Roy would be a great for our center depth.

Because most of the teams getting better are real contenders getting rentals and we're not even close to being a few rentals away from a cup. I'd rather hold on to the picks and prospects.

The thing I can not stress enough is that if the Rangers are serious about getting harder to play against, they can't just get Clowe. They need to revamp the way they play. One player will help but he will need help.

That's why I think it'd be pivotal to get both Glencross and Clowe. Glencross is on a great contract for a few more seasons.
