...So do Fasth and Lindberg suddenly not exist anymore?

You know, two DRAFT PICKS (one was acquired for one of our draft picks, but the point remains) who'll probably be fighting to make the NHL next season?

Are we REALLY acting as if we have no homegrown talent, and that trading picks suddenly means our pipeline is bare?

Is it? They don't get top picks and they have a huge advantage on the FA market because they're in NYC, have unlimited money and are an original 6 team. They pick the wrong guys too often, but I don't think its a bad strategy - it's making use of the advantages you're given.
 
Sather doesn't look like such a "genius" when he has to deal with GMs other than Gainey or Howson...

Hopefully McBain is next. Make the move. Sullivan and Torts are great with defenseman. It is one of the things they do specialize in. McBain would slide in comfortably here. Get Hamrlik off the ice.

This board doesn't look like it's full of geniuses either when they're complaining about getting a guy who puts up 50+ points for two draft picks as if it's the worst thing to ever happen.
 
Really like the deal. Consistent 20 goal 55 point guy. Only reason we were able to get him was because he's having a down year. This is the type of deal you try to find.
 
This is a good trade for both sides.

I guess because NYR fans are used to Sather committing grand larceny more often than not, they are thinking we got hosed. Oh, and the fact that the NYR have the biggest Chicken Little fanbase in the league doesn't help that.

Solid deal overall.
 
There's nothing wrong with this deal. 2nd rounders more often don't make it than do, and 3rd rounders face a really tough road to the NHL, for a 30 year old player that has 227 NHL points in his last 5 seasons, stands up for his team (all of you bemoaning Hank getting run into should appreciate Clowe), and is a good guy in the room. I'll sign up for that every day, all day.

Who do you put at 3C? 4C? Makes no sense unless they're getting a center back.
 
Not a bad price if we are extending him, and obviously it would help if he can figure out how to score again.
 
Speculation:

Clowe for 2-3yrs for 3.2-3.8mil per

Pyatt gets waived
