And each year they get older and older

2nd, 3rd, and a 2014 2nd if he resigns. That's 3 assets for one.

We're losing 4 of our top 6 picks in the next two drafts. We've paid 7 assets for two players in the last 8 months. I don't give a **** about what anyone has to say in regards to future trades for more picks. As of right now hockey's future in NY has taken a big blow. Let's see the present team justify the price.

Hopefully they can. I'm telling myself this means they're intending on recouping a lot of assets between now and the draft, but who am I kidding? Free agency is where this team goes to try and build a team.

“@KatieStrangESPN: #NYR Told Clowe is making arrangements to get to New York for tomorrow's game vs. Pitt at MSG”

Ugh, excuse me?

Have you watched him play recently? This season or last?

Glencross could slide into our top-6. Probably would, as a matter of fact. At worst he'd be on the 3rd line.

To be honest, I don't know man. Look at my post a few pages back. It's a problem cause neither he nor Clowe is a center and Boyle is technically our 3rd best center.

I can't see Hags or Clowe slipping to the 4th line.

Well, same can be said for those 17-18 year old draft picks. We should just close up shop since Kreider and Stepan will be in their 30's someday.

So ****ing absurd. I'm not pleased with this trade, but they needed to address some issues in that bottom 6. We are never a team to mail in a season, especially one that is cut in half and where we have a ton of talent on the roster.

Get over it, hope they make a run and i'll come running back to this thread laughing in your face. We have some of the best young talent in the league and some very good options in our pipeline. One draft won't kill us and who's to say we don't have deals in place for other picks.

“@DarrenDreger: Pending paper work and trade call, Clowe is a Ranger. NYR may not be done as the possibility of adding a D-man exists. #tradecentre”

Why do people think we are trading for Glencross or a D? We don't have the assets now.

Just because we don't have picks in this draft doesn't mean anything awful about our future, considering this team is so young and it's ONE DRAFT it's not a big deal at all.

...However, I want no part of Clowe.

Yeah, one draft to the team that rules the draft every year, ha, what do we need with young prospects, we have some already !

Hopefully they can. I'm telling myself this means they're intending on recouping a lot of assets between now and the draft, but who am I kidding? Free agency is where this team goes to try and build a team.

FED UP WITH IT

Hopefully this means that Pyatt is one his way out.

As for this trade, I think it's pretty even. Of course, we'll see how Clowe does here.

Clowe has averaged 20 goals and 55 points prior the last 4 seasons not including this one. He also has 45 points in 67 playoff games. Granted I don't know if coming to the Rangers is going to spark him but he's a solid defensively responsible forward.

and your original point was we were giving up 2nd rounders/3rd rounders. are those not far from sure things? at least the players we've mentioned have progressed since being drafted and look more like NHLers than the day they were drafted.

They have progressed much, much further. People talk about sure things. What prospects are sure things? taylor hall? RNH? Yakupov? You know what all those guys have in common? I'll tell you....they are on EDMONTON. Because edmonton has sucked for so many years they have those guys. And clearly even with all that lovely young talent they have still struggled to succeed as a franchise. Draft picks are not everything. You need to fill out the team in other ways.

To be honest, I don't know man. Look at my post a few pages back. It's a problem cause neither he nor Clowe is a center and Boyle is technically our 3rd best center.

I can't see Hags or Clowe slipping to the 4th line.

I could see:

Nash-Stepan-Callahan
Glencross-Richars-Gaborik
Clowe-Boyle-Hagelin
Kreider-Powe-Asham

I'd feel that's how it would shake out if we moved for Glencross as well.

To put this into perspective for all of you OMG PICKS! People:

"From 1990 to 1999, about one-quarter of the players selected in the second round turned into NHL career players.
Those drafted in the third round and beyond are really up against it.

From over 2,000 players selected in the third round and beyond during 1990s, just 261 made it as NHL career players. That's about 12 percent."

So, roughly 25% of those drafted in the 2nd round are career NHL (200 games or more) players. 12% of those in the 3rd.

As per @Real_ESPNLeBrun, it's SJ's 2nd, FLA's 3rd and conditional 2nd (on re-signing or winning two playoff series). If not, it becomes 5th.
