Almost the whole league being mid this season convinced way too many teams to be buyers (or at least not sellers), thus not too many guys being available.

I warned y'all. Don't say I didn't warn y'all.

I’d like to keep them both. A D core of Z, Fabbro, Provorov, Mateychuk, and Severson (hopefully add in a shutdown guy somewhere) is appealing to me

To me, that doesn't seem like a defense that will give this team an opportunity to be good enough to compete for the cup. I think you would need serious changes to that 3rd pair, which would mean making a concerted effort to move Severson. I like him, but think you can find a better fit and team need for less money to compliment that group. I think two more in that 6 would provide a better than solid D, but there is no shutdown guy/pair and having to shelter a $6.4MM guy for 6 more years, that really could be changed out, seems like a really poor asset situation. I guess I just expect more from them and don't see much changing aside from more growth from Mateychuk (which could be a sophomore slump candidate and step back next year)

I posted a week or so ago that improvements have to be made somewhere. If we bring back (almost) all of the players from this year’s team that we’ve liked — Fabbro, Provorov, JVR — you’re really limiting that places DWad has to make the team better next year.

I'd personally move on from JVR, JJ, and ZAR. LDBB, Brindley, Malatesta, etc. offer more upside plus possibly a FA pick-up.

Provorov is more interesting. I wouldn't want to go much past 4 years and I'm guessing he's looking for 6-7. If you trade his rights or let him walk, how do you re-shape the top 4?

I think we're gonna see a big move this off-season, DW said that prices were too crazy right now but he's got some frameworks lined up for the off-season. Can't see us being super active in the FA though.
