I am all in on Bjorkstrand. Period. Do whatever we need to do to acquire him.
I don't disagree, but I think he's still on the short list of players to not be back. Now, if they happen to move some of the younger players or other players for an upgrade in the top 6, that makes it easier, but if the following group returns (with health, of course): Marchenko, Monahan, Voronkov, Fantilli, KJ, Jenner, Chinakhov, Sillinger... that's 8 of the top 9. Could LDBB also have played himself into a top 9 role next year? Again, I don't disagree that he could be back, but my opinion still stands that he is likely to be on the short list to not return without other movement being done. I simply don't see him on a line with the likes of Olivier, ZAR and whomever is the 4C or extra forward next year. Just my opinion, not my desire.Labanc, no chance. JVR? I wouldn't be so sure, he's been producing extremely well and is exactly the kinda guy we need around all the kids right now. If he's still interested in playing I could see us taking it year by year with him.

DBB and Culemann?
Would you risk the lotto ticket of Dumais on this?
As much as I want Dumais to succeed, that's an easy yes for me. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but I just don't think his game will translate.Would you risk the lotto ticket of Dumais on this?
I wouldn't be completely shocked to see his game work vs soft offensive teams but vs Vegas/Carolina/etc it could be problematic for sureAs much as I want Dumais to succeed, that's an easy yes for me. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but I just don't think his game will translate.
The real question though, is that remotely enough?
Only problem is dumais is damaged goods with a character blemish. The jackets are going to be the ones responsible for rehabilitating his value, because he probably doesn’t have much right now.Dumais will be like Davidsson and Abramov: a small piece used to get a bigger fish that doesn't amount to much of anything with their new teams
NoAvailable options for Bjorstrand:
forwards- DBB, Dumais, Brindley, Maleesta, TFW
Defensemen- Ceulemanns, Szovil,
I think if we offered Brindley we would get BJorkstrand, Do we offere
Brindley?

He's only "damaged goods" until he's not. The kid has produced incredibly everywhere he's gone and he already has 4 points in 5 games in the AHL. Let's see how that progresses as all his issues in his past can be left in the past with a great end to the season.Only problem is dumais is damaged goods with a character blemish. my ideal deadline is something like:
for #1, the most obvious candidate is nyquist. would also have a lot of interest in nick bjugstad, but he likely works better as a free agent target this summer.
- adding a rental wing at a low cost
- using the MIN 1st to add a bona fide top six forward with at least 2 (but ideally 3+) years of term remaining.
- making a decision on provorov (ideally signing him to a short-term, orlov-style extension – if that can't be reached, trading him and finding a replacement defenseman)
for #2, i'd be looking at names like:
caveat on the last two guys there being that they only have two years left rather than 3+. mccann is my personal top target given that he's apparently available and has a really friendly contract, but STL is definitely out of it and kyrou's NTC doesn't kick in until this summer. seems like a perfect don waddell target – a highly-skilled rush creator with term and star power.
- jared mccann
- jordan kyrou
- pavel zacha
- alex tuch
- oliver bjorkstrand
I would like Mccann but have no idea what it would cost.my ideal deadline is something like:

the short answer is that the "rap" on kyrou doesn't align well with the reality of his on-ice impact. The rap on Kyrou is that he's absolutely lost when it comes to defense and turnovers.
Why would this be a player we target? We have top of the line forwards and first PP players already. You go for another if he has a special quality that we can use. I think Tuch would have a lot to offer.
the short answer is that the "rap" on kyrou doesn't align well with the reality of his on-ice impact.
the medium answer is that we have exactly two "top of the line" forwards (monahan + marchenko), both of whom are currently injured, and one of those is long-term.
the long answer is that he has genuinely put up good defensive results this season on a bad team. he's a +10 on a team with a -17 goal differential. so he's not a power play merchant or defensive liability. and the underlying stats support that, too:

assuming that the rebuttal here is "but rob thomas is good defensively, maybe that's inflating his defensive metrics" – thomas's defensive rating is currently a 0 (98th percentile difficulty with 22nd percentile results) whereas kyrou is in the top 25% in both impact and difficulty.
on top of that, he's an absurdly talented player in transition and is offensively is a triple shoot/pass/carry threat. he's also right handed (a nice bonus) and, with the cap going up, is cost-controlled.
we've recently butted heads on two other players:
in both of those instances, you trusted the current numbers over historical reputation/data samples. in this instance, we're talking about a player who has a track record of elite scoring and recent results that indicate an upward trajectory. this should be a player we fully agree on!
- elias pettersson – i said he's primed for upward regression to the form he showed for 5+ years, you said this is his new normal
- dmitry voronkov – i said there are things in his game that point to potential downward regression, you said that you trust that he'll be able to sustain this play long-term
at 26, he fits the werenski/marchenko prime window, and adding him would improve the upside and stability of the top six group, allowing them to spend the summer pursuing guys for the bottom six who are built to play a matchup game.
in other words: he freaking rules, man.
Easily, but I've not been a big fan of Dumais' potential. He may be more than TFW, and I hope he is, but I would easily include him in a trade for an upgrade to the roster.Would you risk the lotto ticket of Dumais on this?
Brindley does not belong on that list. Likely DBB doesn't either.Available options for Bjorstrand:

Regular season "Ice Capades Hockey? - True. Playoff time when everything slows down and every inch of ice is fought for? - Mittelstadt will do much better. If the Jackets are actually targeting Mittelstadt I could see him doing really well for you guys. The Avs are simply too reliant on speed, speed and more speed - they are basically playing in such a way that it suppresses his strengths and highlights his weaknesses.
