Ahh I can hear it now thank youJt'hais Molson, Jt'hais (he doesn't like Molson)
Oh and he predicted Molson would hire a dummy french speaking GM that would do everything he wants (which was a shared feeling amonst some fans if I remember well).

I like the idea of building a strong centre core, first and foremost. Hopefully the clear BPA that falls to the Habs, is a C (assuming their current place in the standings is where they end up).I never expected him to be, but he looks really out of it right now. Man that 8million dollar contract.. yikes
Yup, another franchise C or forward.. maybe we can grab a decent blueliner with Calgary's draft pick
There is no way to know if HuGo really believed they were in the mix. And whether they would have even said it if they knew Laine was going to be gone for 2 months. We all fell for the 'in the mix' message that HuGo were saying at the golf tournament. What is disconcerting is that HuGo believed the message.
They have severely over estimated the talent on the roster, as many of us have as well.
To me, it smacks of a Geoff Molson directive but quite obviously, I’m just attempting to connect dots based on Geoff’s past actions and the type of catch phrases his underlings have propagated. There is no way to know if HuGo really believed they were in the mix. Shanahan scored 50 goals twice and 40+ 4 other times. Hall of famer. If you draft a superstar in a weak draft he’s still a superstar.
Slaf has produced really well for his age. This team’s drowning and he’s still managed to put up points. Long way to go but I wouldn’t give up the dream that he can be a special player.
Brendan Shanahan wasn’t Yzerman but he brought something special to the table. Just because Slaf isn’t Guy Lafleur doesn’t mean he can’t be a great player.
It’s a marathon and we’re only passing the first marker. Let’s wait on this.
He doesn’t have to be Brendan Shanahan to be a special player. He’s going to be his own guy.Shanahan scored 50 goals twice and 40+ 4 other times. Hall of famer.
I'm calling it right now, no way Slafkovsky does that. His shot isn't great, wouldn't even call it very good.
Buffalo had some major problems in management and Eichel hated the place. In your opinion, what did they do to not tank hard enough? What was their mistake?
Some players have “flippé la switch” and have decided that they won't take advice from someone like MSL, who has been criticizing their performance.Funny that MSL isn’t asking players to amene ta game a La game anymore. Feel like the players are leaving leur game chez eux and just coming to la game in name.
shame.
We managed to draft twice in a very weak draft. The 2022 top 10 is giving me 2012 vibe (2022 being slightly better). I don't see any real superstar coming from that top 10. Like you said, he potential is around Hischier.Slaf was never going to be a special talent. It was a very weak draft year.
He has special physical tools that he needs to use more, and he'll always be someone who needs to compete hard to have success. He's far, very far from the level superstars #1 picks like MacKinnon, McDavid or Bedard. At best I expect numbers similar to Hischier's, probably lower.
It's why we do need to continue to draft high. We need at least 1 gamebreaking talented forward, ideally two. Demidov could potentially be one of them. Then we'll need guys for the second and third line.
Both Hagens or Misa would probably play in the third line at the age of 18. I can see Misa going back to the junior next year. Remember Slaf, Leo or Fantili first season in the NHL? Very few player can play in the top 6 at age of 18.Assuming we manage to get either Hagens/Misa this draft and we let Dvorak+Armia walk, how does everyone see our lineup looking to start next season?
I could see something along the lines of:
Our 2nd line would be moved to our 3rd line essentially, and we'd have an all new 2nd line that could have the potential to overtake our 1st line in terms of production.
- Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield
- Laine-Hagens/Misa-Demidov
- Newhook-Dach-Gallagher
- Heineman-Evans-Anderson
It does NOT mean any of those things. If we finish bottom 3 that means we are at least 4 years away from being competitive. It may alo mean that the rebuild needs a reset.
Funny thing is that the supposedly dead wood Gallagher is our best player. What does that tell us about the core that's supposed to lead us to the cup?
We need a "I f***ing don't care anymore" thread. That's how I feel. I can no longer see us being "in the mix" on short or middle terms. The draft pick advantage won't be enough.
