My boss interviewed by Lobel and Lynch

It is noteworthy as they had the guts to ask him about his brother and Michael Jackson.

Chuck Sullivan thought he could outsmart Don King on a cash deal :biglaugh:

Do they still have the Sports Reporters on Sunday morning? Loved that show when Schapps father hosted it.
ESPN took the show off the air about 10 years ago. TSN had a similar round table format show called The Reporters which also was canceled about 10 years ago.

EDIT: Just checked and The Sports Reporters ran on ESPN from 1988 to 2007 and The Reporters ran on TSN from 2002 to 2008.

They are going to be so wrong

Love him or hate him, Pat McAfee draws in interest that other sports personalities on that dying channel do not. Outside of Jeff Van Gundy and Jalen Rose, who draws legitimate interest on that channel among that group? Suzy Kolber was a great sideline reporter but she's not helping draw more eyeballs to Monday Night Football, and neither is a retired Steve Young at commentary. While he's good with Showtime Boxing, Kellerman's a hack. And Keyshawn? Please. The only one who rivals Pat McAfee in terms of interest is Stephen A Smith.

McAfee and Smith is what people are drawn too these days? See, I didn’t even know who McAffe was not too long ago. No ESPN or FS 1 for me. Love it

Sports Reporters was a great show, I was sorry to see it get cancelled.

I don't watch ESPN or Fox Sports unless there's a game/event I want to watch. Sports reporting/discussion has gone completely downhill although I did enjoy ESPN's 30 for 30 series & sometimes their E:60 program covers something/someone interesting. Otherwise it just a bunch of people yelling at each other, like on sports radio.

30 for 30 is the single best thing Bill Simmons has done in his entire career.

For someone whose under the age of 30, albeit not for much longer, McAfee is an interesting personality much in the way Rich Eisen is. Yes he's more boisterous. Yes he appeals more towards the frat boy crowd. Yes he's a goof. He's also incredibly funny and fills a void in talk radio shows that's been devoid of interesting personalities for a long time and does it in a topic that most people like. He also draws in the key demographics that every advertiser lusts for. The beloved 18-34 demo and the younger half of the 25-54 demo. Sorry to say, but those are the demos that determine ad sales and a lot of younger viewers like McAfee and his show.

Stephen A Smith also draws in key viewers from a similar demographic.

The New York Times said on Monday that it would disband its sports department and rely on coverage of teams and games from its website The Athletic, both online and in print.

Joe Kahn, The Times’s executive editor, and Monica Drake, a deputy managing editor, announced the change to the newsroom as “an evolution in how we cover sports.”

“We plan to focus even more directly on distinctive, high-impact news and enterprise journalism about how sports intersect with money, power, culture, politics and society at large,” the editors wrote in an email to The Times’s newsroom on Monday morning. “At the same time, we will scale back the newsroom’s coverage of games, players, teams and leagues.”

The shuttering of the sports desk, which has more than 35 journalists and editors, is a major shift for The Times. The department’s coverage of games, athletes and team owners, and its Sports of the Times column in particular, were once a pillar of American sports journalism. The section covered the major moments and personalities of the last century of American sports, including Muhammad Ali, the birth of free agency, George Steinbrenner, the Williams sisters, Tiger Woods, steroids in baseball and the deadly effects of concussions in the National Football League.

The local sport's beat writer for the paper seems to be a dying inroad at this point. More people would rather begin through video podcasting and blogging. CBS made an important piece on why its important to have a local paper and part of that, as it pertains to our interests in the world of sports, I would imagine is that it gives people coverage of what's going on with their local high school, college, hell maybe even professional sports as well.

Is boxing still considered a sport?
It's luster has definitely faded but there are a lot of really good fighters to watch, if you like the sport. I grew up watching it all because my dad was a huge boxing guy, so I still pay attention to it. And Max is a clown with very little to offer other than dumb ass hot takes that get shown to be erroneous.

I'm also a big MMA fan. It's why I always tell the people looking for fights in hockey to go watch combat sports. That's what they're there for. Plus you don't have to wait for a fight to break out.
