Getting his kids into coaching is fine. Putting them on the Patriots staff is where the problem arises. Like you suggest, he should have known better and gotten them a job with one of his coaching disciples/friends instead of opening up any chance of impropriety by having them both on his current staff. It would have been fine if he'd retired and they were on his replacement's staff, but him being the head coach and hiring not one, but two of his kids? Yeah, no.

This kind of stuff never happens in every line of work, in every country...

I haven’t watched one second of Tom v Time and I hate the whole concept
I am neither a Patriots nor a Brady fan, but I agree the whole concept is dumb.

Besides, anyone interested in watching someone "fight time" should just read Chara's Instagram. :sarcasm:

Boston press/media have a long and tired history of making themselves bigger than the sport/players, thus causing them to eat their own. The greatest hitter who ever lived was excoriated by the press. So was Yaz. Jim Rice was pummeled by them for not answering questions about racism to their liking. The situation is even worse in this era of click-bait journalism.

The only players I remember getting off scot free were Bobby Orr (who really never had any skeletons in his closet) and Larry Bird (who amazingly had a full graveyard in his closet and still got off). David Ortiz was close, if not for Shank Shaughnessy's steroid articles and various pen pushers calling him done well before he performed the single greatest final season on record.

But don't worry, like Teddy Ballgame, Yaz, and the others, the superstars will win in the end. There are no statues of writers erected outside our sports venues, and they are not inscribed on any trophy or banner. Matter of fact, most require a Google search just to remember their names (as it should be). Tom Brady can take heart in that.

It's not a Boston thing or a sports thing. Journalists everywhere are so up their own butts about how important they are and try to stir up news in order to sell it.

I wouldn’t be buying Kirk Minehane stock.

I’m down to Dale & Keefe on WEEI.

Fauria is a train wreck and Ordway has lost it.

I will say this I’m listening a lot more to 92.9 Alt music and loving it

Boston is the worst. I've lived in other places where superstars weren't looked at like fresh meat or treated like dirt on local radio. Hell, I lived in PA, where Joe Paterno was deified. Nobody said a bad word about him before or (disturbingly) even after the scandal.

That wouldn't happen here. We have the greatest football coach of all time and the media pounces on every little thing they can drum up about him, real or imagined. Shank still writes . . . errm recycles . . . his "Tomato Can" article every year about the greatest dynasty in Boston sports. And palookas like Haggs can write his lies that Bergeron's nameplate was missing or Kessels cancer was drug addiction, and they all still keep a job.

Same with me and 'EEI. Basically waiting for hockey to be around the corner so that I can even listen to something on demand. Kirk, Callahan, Ordway, Fauria are all completely useless to me.

Check out 92.5 and 91.9. Easily two of the best stations here locally...

The problem with 92.5, 91.9 and 99,5 are signal limitations in the entire market.

92,5 is tough south of Boston

91,9 becomes iffy outside of 128

and 99.1 has issues north and west of Boston.

Back in the 80's 99.5 was the flagship of both the Bruins and Red Sox and it was frustrating.

In Boston, they had to buy time on 1150 AM which had an awful nighttime signal.

I’d still rather listen to Golic & Wingo than either Boston morning “sports” show. At least they talk about sports all the time and aren’t trying to reach the lowest common denominator.

My humanity wishes Minihane a full recovery from his troubles, but it wouldn’t bother me if he departed the Boston sports scene for good.

Best of luck to him.
