That disgusting vomit Alex Reimer, unfortunately. They've also had on Mut, Tomase (barf), and Dickerson. Personally, I think Mut is the best third man they could have on.

In other news, Dale likes Beth Mowins.

Was hoping it would be Donnie.

Look, it doesn't matter for me because I don't listen to the station for other reasons, but how can WEEI think it's a good idea to have Tomase on their airwaves? I won't support WEEI.com because of him either, just like I stopped reading the Herald in February of 2008.

What percentage of Boston sports fans ever want to hear from him on any topic ever again? That guy botched the biggest story of his life a few days before the Super Bowl because he failed to follow Journalism 101 guidelines, all because he was blinded by the potential of bringing down the Patriots. His errors weren't the byproducts of good work or good intentions, it was shoddy work for the worst reasons, and yet he not only kept his job he basically earned a promotion. He has never been held accountable by the sports media in this town, and they continue to defend him even though he doesn't deserve it and has never earned forgiveness.

It's a total joke.

Tomase is a lazy blow hard and I have never understood why they put him on the air.

I am curious to know that you state you don’t support The Boston Herald or WEEI.com because of him so are you not supporting the Boston Globe because of Kevin Cullen?

They have had a history as well with Mike Barnicale and Patricia Smith.

Talk radio is an unfortunate reflection of our buzz / controversy / clickbait / wtf society today... When you think about how long any any of these jerks would last in an intelligent / mature / respectful workplace it makes you wonder how they get away with their garbage. Dredges of society.....

No doubt EEI won't start theirs until sometime in February and it will be on for about six weeks if lucky.
Kirk should be at a place where there is no phone or internet access- expect it after Sox parade

When all is said and done, there are roughly 600,000 people over the age of 6 who embrace sports radio.

That can be seen in the total cume numbers

WBZ-FM skews younger than WEEI but both stations are thriving,

The WVEI-FM Providence numbers are not included in the Boston numbers as they run local RI ads on 103,7 but that adds another 50,000 plus to WEEI's total.

WEEI also has a strong following with their Cape Cod affiliate which explodes in the summer

Bottom line is most Boston area listeners switch back and forth between the 2 stations. There is no other market in the US where 2 stations are neck and neck.

Lithium on Sirius XM is a pretty decent substitute. I recently got Sirius for the Pearl Jam channel (shut up, @EverettMike ) and there's a lot of great stuff on there.

Man, WAAF was such a great station in the 90’s-early 2000’s. Might be time to pull the plug on it. What happened over there??

They discovered Godsmack, didn't you hear!??

I think it's a combination of three things:
1. They have kept the same format genre-wise
2. They've kept the same hosts for far too long
3. Sirus/Spotify

Greg Hill foundation has done a lot of great work, but the show itself has sucked for years. Mistress Carrie was okay in the early 00's, but I'm sure at this point her show is just as terrible. I don't even know what the afternoon show is at this point.

Their wheelhouse genre wise in the late 90's/early 00's was "harder" mainstream rock/metal, but that genre in modern music is terrible. And unlike a station such as ZLX, the old stuff doesn't age well either.

Which leads me to Sirius/Spotify. I personally listened to AAF back in the day because they tended to play more of the stuff I was listening to back then. However, they never evolved, while my tastes did. If I want to listen to metal now, I'm going to put on Spotify since what I want to listen to, most certainly wouldn't be on FM radio. Sirius has a few decent options as well.

It's always sad to see iconic stations go away, but much like WBCN and FNX, it's probablty time to pull the plug.

When BCN was going off the air they let the old hosts come back and do whatever they wanted for the last few weeks and it was far and away the best radio I have ever heard in my life. I can only imagine how great it was in the '70s and '80s before the corporations took over.

I can tell you it was awesome. Tom Petty’s song The Last DJ is all about that era coming to an end when corporate radio took over

WBCN was always on when I was growing up but I remember my mother listening to Charles Laquidara Saturday morning doing his spoof Duane Glasscock and being disgusted

Matt Siegel was on BCN, Captain Ken Shelton, Mark Parenteau and those cosmic muffins broadcast with the phrase "It is a wise person who rules the stars, a fool who is ruled by them - Over and out."

Every era has greatness and uniqueness but the 70’s were wild and the music to me was awesome and WBCN ruled the airways.

Can’t agree more DKH. Charles really lost me when he did that stupid bit and he kept it up for long, long time. I did like Carlos the Computer though.

I was playing golf with a friend a ways back and they paired us up with two ladies who happened to work with Laquidara for BCN back in their heyday. Let’s just say they didn’t paint a flattering picture of him

Yah I got bad stories as well on him

Still anytime you could cruise around in dad’s Chevy Impala listening to WBCN blasting Symphony for the Devil was a good day
