Is Danault back next year?

I think its perculiar that transactions made last season, can be carried over into this season?
For instance I was shocked to read earlier, that Moncton could have lost Barbashev to VIC, but have opted for Johnston?
Am I correct in thinking that VIC could have forced the Wildcats to trade #22
I dont fully understand that part, or am I missing something?

Is there anyway to Watch/Listen /Tune into today`s Draft? Anyone know of an English version?

Danault won't be back next season. He'll play for Chicago's AHL team.

Victoriaville had the option between Johnston or Lalonde. Barbashev has a no trade clause and was never going anywhere. T

A TON of Americans drafted, so this draftclass is a complete wildcard. They did draft a few good local guys, and I particularly liked the Bower pick. If these guys report, it may be the best draft class. Of note, if Jonathan Macleod reports, he'll be among the top '96 born defenders in the league.

I liked their strategy , especially with a limited amount of picks. With late picks I'd rather roll the dice on players that will crack the lineup and have an impact rather than draft kids that will show up and never make the team. MacLeod is a very solid and physical shut dman that captained U17 team. He'd be a great addition to any Q team and could jump in next season as an impact player. Landing Seeger would be another huge addition. Don't know a whole lot about the other American kids though. The only thing I didn't like about our draft is the fact we didn't go with a single goalie for the third straight year. Aside from Dubeau , I know Flynn is high on Hunt but all we have is Grant Grady who played Junior B this past season. Holowenko shouldn't even be at camp.

I said this last year, but I personally can't see Grady ever playing in the Q. A guy they could target would be whoever the Armada cuts ties with of Decelles and Phaneuf.

That's a possibility but I think we'll add a free agent like we usually do. I wouldn't have minded grabbing Dominic Graham for a 5th. We'll need someone to rely on when we move Dubeau. I think Hunt will really surprise, he looks fairly promising.

Oh yes, I agree with that. I was saying that if Hunt were not to report

I'm sure he will though. He reported last season but only stayed for 48 hours to keep his eligibility. He would have stayed if they guaranteed him a spot which I'm sure they'll do this season. He's good enough to at least be a backup and you never know , by Christmas time he may be comfortable enough to start when Dubeau is traded.

Who do you think will be traded from Moncton? I see them having a strong group if 96s down the road, with Garland, Batt, Pugsley, Hynes, McCabe, Mann, and hopefully all of those Americans. If they could make a deal with say Bathurst centering around Mason McDonald for Lalonde, obviously with complementary pieces going both ways, this team could compete with Cape Breton down the road, when the 96s are 19.

Dubeau , Lalonde and Penny are the three main targets all whom have already been inquired about. Then there's some secondary players that wouldn't fetch much like Wood , Tremaine and possibly Emond. There at least two , likely three years away and will build around 96's and 97's. Halifax has asked about Penny this week.

A goalie of the future is definitely going to be needed if they plan to contend, as the organizational goalie depth isn't great. Is Hunt a 94 or 95?

Seeger is actually Canadian, went to U-17 camp last year in Ontario and ranked high. He just lives in Stamford Connecticut where his parents work, but he is not American. Played for Brunswick Prep and the Connecticut Oilers Jr. Empire squad where he led both teams in points--ranked up there in scoring in both leagues in fact!d Under the radar because he is not part of USNDP--but he isn''t eligible because he remains a Canadian Citizen. He played over 70 games last year between both teams, and put up almost 100 points, he's a real contender for a spot--big, two way player with skill and a lot of hockey sense. Has a bunch of PIMS to go with his points, and he probably would have played up in the Jr. A. (EJHL) division last season easily, but could not play both Jr. A and Prep. He is not shy, and will defend his team mates wherever required. Word has it he wanted to be in Moncton, and expressed that to at least two other teams who showed interest in even earlier rounds. Look for big things from this kid at Camp.

Even if they wanted to trade him, what kind of return do you think Dubeau would get right now?
I dont think they could trade him, but , for arguments sake, what do you think he would get in return?

Probably not a whole lot which is why we will wait until Christmas and cross our fingers he plays well. With a decent first half, a 1st round pick would be reasonable.

I agree. He should have lots of opportunity to show what he can do. I think even if he plays great, he has yet to show he's a big game goalie. He has never really had a good playoff season. I think he would be more the type of pick that BC did with getting Desrosier this year. Not to be #1, but to be an experienced insurance if the #1 falters.
Having said that, the wildcats would need a replacement and they realistically dont have one in their system. IMO how they have managed that position is horrendous. IMO only... They use to be really good at drafting and develloping goalies, not so much anymore. They have relied on FA since the 05-06 season for all intents and purposes.
