Toronto uses the 83rd overall pick to select from the J20 SuperElit league... Axel Andersson

1200.jpg

Date of Birth: Feb 10th 2000 (17)
Place of Birth: Järna, Sweden
Ht: 6'0" Wt: 183lbs
Shoots: Right
Position: D

You might consider Andersson as a modern day D-man. Mobile with the puck and isn't afraid to carry the play. Almost always makes the smart decision on the ice and is rarely caught by surprise. We hope that he continues to develop his defensive game and becomes a reliable player that can be used in any situation.

Draft so far.
25th: Jared McIsaac (LD)
52nd: Jakub Lauko (LW)
83rd: Axel Andersson (RD)

@zaluty

Damn it. That was my pick, good one.

With the 87th pick, Chicago selects from the Sioux City Musketeers, Sampo Ranta.

Ranta is one of those players who's numbers don't fully reflect the abilities. We feel the Finnish power winger, who possesses excellent skating ability and a hard accurate shot, has the tools to become an effective player. His decision to commit with an NHL breeding ground in Wisconsin is a plus.

With pick #90, the NY Rangers pick LW Luka Burzan, of the Brandon Wheat Kings.

LukaBWK-1024x576.jpg

Good scoring touch and good hockey IQ, Burzan made great strides after dealt from a depth role on a stacked Moose Jaw team to a go-to forward in Brandon. Plays a complete game and has very good passing skills. Also a hard working player.

28 - Ty Dellandrea, C, CAN, Flint Firebirds, OHL
29 - Serron Noel, RW, CAN, Oshawa Generals, OHL

TB selects from US Development Team defenseman Ty Emberson.

Intelligent 2-way defenseman with great mobility and puck moving ability.

Had to triple check to make sure he wasn't picked. At pick #88, can't complain since a few more inches and he's probably a first rounder or close. This is also about where I feel the draft takes a nosedive in talent.
You know damn well that I would have taken him

At this point I think Benoit-Olivier Groulx is good value. He might not have the best top end potential but he is a smart player with good chances of making it to the NHL , might end up a defensive specialist but you also need those guys to win.

@Habs76 is up

I don't take part in this year's draft, but definitely a good pick, especially at that point, I don't get this board's hatred of him. (I look at you WTK ;) ). The big reason why I didn't participate is because I haven't watched much if any junior hockey (besides the WJC) this year and it has always been my golden rule to only draft players I've seen several times (and ideally a couple of times live). All this to say, I'm curious to hear why people hate him so much as a prospect.
