Oh!Evil Dead, Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy (The Thing, Prince of Darkness, and In the Mouth of Madness), and Annihilation.
“Gimme some sugar, baby.”
Oh!Evil Dead, Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy (The Thing, Prince of Darkness, and In the Mouth of Madness), and Annihilation.
Please tell me the three most mainstream examples of this genre.
Evil Dead, Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy (The Thing, Prince of Darkness, and In the Mouth of Madness), and Annihilation.
The Lighthouse might also qualify.
But yeah this genre is not mainstream, it's not easy to capture the essence of Lovecraft on a screen without making it boring as shit.
Hey maybe we should give Michael Bay a call?
I actually original had The Lighthouse but wanted to keep the list down to three.
Also, racist. Holy hell was Lovecraft racist. Only thing scarier to him than weird angles and ancient alien demons were white women hooking up with black guys.
Since I already derailed the thread I might as well say this too: I would also recommend the game Dredge, if you had not played it yet. One of the best gaming interpretation of Lovecraftian horror I've ever experienced, even more so than Darkest Dungeon.
It’s on my wishlist! One of those games I’ll dig into when I’ve got some free time between releases. Unfortunately Diablo IV will probably consume me for most of the summer.
Back on topic, the real cosmic horror is this Aquilini ownership. AMIRITE?!
His Twitter pic is from like 2007
Someone take him fishing. That asshole shouldn’t even be tweeting, does he know that family has been super despised now?
Then again, why should he care? Guy needs to spend his money where it really counts…car auctions.
I survived the Benning years so I’ll pass on more cosmic horror.Jokes aside, "Color Out of Space" was actually a very competent movie. If you're interested in Lovecraftian cosmic horror, I would recommend that movie. His (meme) acting fitted into the story quite well.
I wonder how many fans commute from abbotsford and chilliwack to see the Giants, if that's a real concern?
Maybe I haven't been paying that close attention but it would mean the chilliwack chiefs are out and moved elsewhere, they play at that arena.
Why did the Chilliwack Bruins move again? Why would it work this time around?I wonder how many fans commute from abbotsford and chilliwack to see the Giants, if that's a real concern?

An example of "Lovecraftian cosmic horror"? The Jim Benning regime. Please tell me the three most mainstream examples of this genre.
Kaboom!The Lighthouse might also qualify.

Arena is up for sale in Chilliwack from what the reports say. Probably a real estate type transaction, but I don't know the area so not sure what is possible there. Does seem like it's too many teams out there that would need 5K of fans. The BCHL can get by with half that amount. They had some great teams back then too (I had an ex who worked for bell and got free tickets.)
But living in the valley, realistically of all the options, I'm going to go to the Abby canucks over anything else.
With the Giants now in Langley; and the AHL Canucks in Abbotsford; it's hard to believe the WHL would even contemplate returning to Chilliwack. I mean how many hockey fans do they think there is out in the Valley?
But I guess if the arena is up for sale; and Aquilini wants to buy it, he has to find some kind of tenant to occupy it.....and I doubt the BCJHL would cut it.
Still, the Aquilini's owning yet another hockey team doesn't pump my tires.
