Wow, I'm actually surprised. That hit by Bolland that led to the Seabrook goal was probably more of a penalty than the coincidental ones at the end of regulation.

Did I miss something? Looked like the ref was blowing the whistle before Hjalmarsson scored. Penalty or not, the call was already made. Thought it was a pretty legit no-goal.

So wait, am I late to the party or do The League and the Chicago Blackhawks goal song sound very alike? The League does take place in Chicago, so it could be a reference, but I can't find anything concrete about them using a cover of The Fratellis' Chelsea Dagger.

Nothing is booked at the Consol Energy Center tonight or tomorrow, but for some reason we're delaying the start of the ECF for two more days? The only reason I can see for it is to get the Penguins/Boston series on NBC primetime on Saturday. But no, we had to pack the first round with Game 6s and 7s on back to back days despite the arenas being open then too.

Ideal matchups for the Final:

Chicago vs. Pittsburgh - Offensive showdown. I know the Hawks haven't shown much offense lately (especially from some of their star players), but I figure if they make it past LA, it'll be because one of their stars finds his game again.

LA vs. Boston - And on the opposite end of the spectrum, defensive showdown. Not really super excited about the concept of this series, especially considering it seems A LOT of the playoff games this year are just one time playing stifling defense for half the game. Sound strategy, but not terribly exciting to watch. However, I can appreciate the mechanics of it.

Chicago vs. Boston - Honestly expect this to be similar to the recently completed Detroit/Chicago one. The top line players are going to nullify each other, and almost all the scoring will be done by the depth players. Decent matchup, but a rerun is still a rerun.

LA vs. Pittsburgh - I rank this one last simply because I can see it ending in 4 or 5, one way or the other. And it all depends on how quickly the Chicago/LA series ends. If LA handles Chicago easily, they'll handle Pittsburgh easily. If LA struggles against Chicago, they'll struggle against Pittsburgh.

Totally being selfish, but I want Chicago in the finals so I can enjoy everything that would go with it in the city. I think a final between Chicago and Pittsburgh would be the best not only ratings wise, but just from the pure fun that could be watching it. I like defensive hockey, but I think the NHL is hoping for the ratings that could come from Chicago/Pittsburgh. The two top teams with the two longest winning streaks this year, plus a lot of star power, would be exciting!

That said I'm rooting for the West regardless as I dislike Boston with a passion and Pittsburgh's fanbase too.

Go 'Hawks!

wanted Sharks to win their first Cup this year though I knew it was highly unlikely.

now I want Pens - Hawks so that we can at least get an entertaining finals... and so we get that extra pick.

Even at that, if Pittsburgh played two 7-game series and Jussi was a healthy scratch like he has been, we still wouldn't get the pick.

hmmm yeah, damn, gotta hope for two quick series there then, or at least one of the two being quick. Could have sworn that Jussi had been in more then 6 games but if he hasn't he hasn't.
