So now your argument is coming down to how he looked last night?
He was -2.
Carlo and Lohrei both -3. But they didn't kick anyone's ass for a bad hit.

Avoiding the question is weak. He was on ice for at least 3 goals, including two that he directly had turnovers on. Derp.
Hard to play goal when your defense is letting players establish position in front all night. Even harder when they're not clearing pucks and actively turning it over to allow sustained pressure. But we'll all get there eventually.
He was on ice for at least 3 goals, and looked brutal. He let guys sit in front without a clear out, even though I was told he was physical? He also had a bad clearing attempt up the middle that got picked and ended up in the back of the net. So you want to avoid questions and say others were bad, that's fine because it's true, but lets not ignore his role in that debacle. Because his fingerprints were all over that loss.
The simple truth is that his contract can at some point be moved, Lindholm and Sayman's contract are really killing this teams chance of roster moves and stuck with them for a very long time.
You asked how he looked last night and I answered. Did I need to elaborate that everybody sucked ass? As far as how many goals he was on the ice for, idk I didn't go back and count but he's -2 so at least a couple but Carlo and Lohrei were both -3 so by that metric they were worse, Carlo especially. Also was only credited with one giveaway last night (Pasta led the pack with 5, followed by Wotherspoon, Osterle and Carlo with 2) so not sure how he could of had two turnovers that led to goals.
On the second bolded, no he didn't clear guys out but can you name me a defenseman who did? Because I can't. Also, how would you feel if he clears the crease and takes a penalty for being big and strong? Mad, I'd assume. He leads the Bruins defensemen in hits by a wide margin as well and is 3rd on the team overall so yes I'd say he's been pretty physical.
At the end of the day he is what he is. An overpaid bottom pairing guy who is being asked to play above his means. My thought on Zadorov going back to last season was always "I'd like the guy but not for the contract that he's probably going to get." and lo and behold I don't like his contract but I have a hard time singling him out when you have A) Your $11m forward and your supposed Norris caliber $9.5m defenseman playing with their heads planted firmly up their asses. B) Your $66m goaltender who sat out demanding top dollar currently being unable to stop a beach ball, C) A forward group that couldn't score in a brothel. D) A coaching staff that is completely out of ideas and E) A team that for whatever reason just can not get themselves motivated to play.
When you consider all of that, it becomes evident that they have way bigger problems right now than Nikita Zadorov. In fact, I'd say he was the only one who seemed like he cared last night.
Most of the goals scored last night, Swayman of last year stops. At least half of them were goals from transition, including a one handed goal off the rush.
Swayman isn't paid what he's paid to just stop the easy shots. The best players on the team are playing widely inconsistent hockey from game to game and Swayman is one of them.

swayman got beat short side high a few times - maybe you tip your hat on 1 of them but you're right that he hasn't been close
to his ceiling...and he knows it based on his quotes last night

Zads is feeling awfully slow and timid to me playing with not a lot of interest. He just feels soft and not all in.

I pretty much disagree with everything.
I think he's a good skater.
I don't think he has a lack of interest. Rather he's one of the most invested players.
He's far from soft.
His problem is what it's always been: he makes bad decisions.
Chases big hits that put him out of position, reads the wrong guy, etc.

Truth. We can probably exempt a couple of guy, but Zado was no worse than Mac, Carlo, Lohrei, Wotherspoon. Only Oosterle had a decent game on D.
