The hot rumor with Leddy, and the Hawks in general, is a rumored trade up for the #5 overall draft pick with Carolina. Leddy's name has been linked to this deal. In general, the Hawks have been trying to trade up with many teams. The Carolina rumor gained some steam last night with a late message to me that there may well be something brewing here.

I thought leddy was a stud till Q started benching him down the stretch for the hawks. Concerning. The kid likely wants a huge contract and doesn't necessarily improve the defense. He'd be a top 4 but wouldn't make us better unless Pitts gets moved and a defensive type replaces him.

Leddy does remind me of younger Yandle. Maybe I'm over reacting.

i would suggest fleece buffalo and take nurse with the 8--5 may be too high for nurse in this draft but imho he is going to be the kind of d-man we need-also i saw a mock this am with the russian dropping out of the top 10

I really hope we do not trade the pick. While the talent in this draft is deep, there is still going to be a top level prospect still available at five that you won't get later.

I have a gut feeling that Jones will be available which should make the decision a no brainier but with JR who knows.

I agree, prefer they not trade the pick. but it seems to be heating up everywhere that we are willing to if the right trade comes along. guess we will see.

Maybe, but trading it for the #30 pick and Nick Leddy is not a good return for us. Geez man, the kid couldn't get off the bench. If they toss in another 2nd maybe.

Gormley, Reilly or Coburn would be better as we don't drop down past 21 in those scenarios.

I have noticed that JR has changed his tune: Don't want to drop down too far, to don't want to drop out of first round. So I am bracing for him to get robbed.

We better get a Kings Ransom for the 5th pick to give up Nichuskin. Just spit balling here, but do you think we pick 5th then try and trade back into the top 12 with say Skinner??? Buffalo would love Jeff Skinner like any team would but, I don't think he is the type of player they would try and go after. Despite what some media may say Tyler Myers will not be moved this year, his value is not at his highest but he is only 23 and has been a #1 guy for over 50% of his career, his potential is to high to move right now. Cody Hodgson is the only legit top 6 center we have and is a RFA and is likely not on the block unless he is a piece that brings in a big time player.

I would think if a deal were to be made between Buffalo and Carolina it would be picks for picks, probably 8+38 for 5, something like that. Carolina would likely want more but I don't see it happening, we shall see in 5 hours.

My guess is that if you guys move 5 it will be in a deal for Alex Edler, just a hunch.

And do you guys actually believe Rutherford will take Nichushkin? I would think he goes Sean Monahan

A few mocks have us taking Monohan, but I just dont see it at 5. As for Edler.. I am pretty sure Eric Staal told Jim Rutherford no way. So I cant see us getting him.

oh god Dreger reporting strong chance Toronto moves into top 5, been having discussions with us. to move back to 21st from 5, we are talkin quite a haul for us is they are willing to give it up. i could see this years 1st, next years 1st, and someone like Kadri for #5 and, say Bowman? or Welsh? i dunno, really spitballing here
