In a few weeks when my contract for my 6s is finished I'm going to upgrade and get an iPhone 8. Anyway I'm wondering is if the case I'm currently using will fit it or do I need to purchase a brand new one?

I believe the 8 is slightly thicker. You can always try it. I guess it depends on what the case is made of.

Are these people having those issues with iOS 11 is it with a previous iPhone like a 6, 6s or 7 or is it anyone who has already purchased an iPhone 8 or 8 plus?

Lots of battery issues with previous models (I’m experiencing them on my 6s) and I’m seeing a few on the iPhone 8 Plus — one saying their phone was down to 20% at 8 PM with an ordinary day of use but a few more pictures than normal.

Then again, I’m seeing more positives about the 8 Plus, one tweet saying they were trying to drain it to test fast charging but had no idea how to drain it since it was so good. Another tweet saying it was at 97% 3 hours after leaving the house.

I’d say most of the issues are on previous models, including the 7 and 7 Plus from what I’ve seen, and the software update.

Personally speaking on my 6s I turn off location services, don't have my screen 100% bright, don't have any notifications for my apps, use a 30 second screen lock, never leave Wi-Fi when I don't use it and everything else they recommended to get the best use out of my battery so it doesn't drain very fast. So maybe those people who reported any problems with iOS 11 do the opposite of me and why they are having problems with it. When I get the iPhone 8 I plan to keep doing the same thing.

Maybe, but my battery is much weaker with the exact same settings I had on iOS 10.

See lots of people having battery issues on iOS 11 on social media.

This seems to be an issue every update. I have yet to do it on my 7, I'm sure they will push an update that fixes it. As the poster mentioned above, anytime you have that arrow in the upper right something is draining your battery via location services.

My screen is very bright, I have **** with Location Services on and my battery is pretty good still on my 7. Have not loaded the new OS yet.

I don’t know why Apple made it so that you can’t open your music from your control panel and have to 3D Touch it. Reminds me of the iOS 10.0.0 notification centre where you had to 3D Touch and then tap to open the app from notifications.

Not loving some of the bugs I'm finding.

- notification center doesn't even open notifications with a tap if your phone is unlocked. You click it, don't know if your tap registered until it disappears, and then you don't even know if it opened or dismissed it until you swipe up from notification center and see the app opened back there. Why can't it just be "tap > take to app/notification"? FFS, it's not hard, Apple.

- tapping the music panel in control center doesn't open the panel. 3D Touch does. Reminds me of the bug in notifications last year where you had to 3D Touch and THEN tap to open a notification.

- battery life sucks.

- Wi-Fi going back to the weaker connection for some reason at random times in the night. I had to forget the network completely.

Went with my sister as she picked up the 8 today. Verizon doing pretty much the same deal now with paying for 50% of the phone in a year and being to upgrade. Also will give you $200.00 for a trade in if you are coming off a contract.

I tell you the S8 is a beautiful looking phone and the display is amazing. I think Apple just should have extended the bezel that fraction to avoid the cutout on the X. It's going to be silly and developers are not allowed to box it out from what I understand. They have to work around it, my question is videos in full screen mode??

Also you guys have made me wait on OS 11.

I have the 7+ 256gb, not even worth going to the 8+ version of that, such minor updates, what would be the point? When I had my Note 7 (and the Note 5 which my gf uses), we got a wireless charging pad, we used it for the first week we had it, now, neither of us could tell you where the damned thing is in our house, as for the pictures, the stability thing...cool?

And yeah, I noticed my battery has been draining faster as well after the update. I think they'll come out with a fix in a month or so, I hope.

The 8 Plus is fantastic. Honestly, it's everything that the 7 Plus should have been. I am fully fine with this phone for the next year until the X architecture matures for a bit. Love this phone so far.

So you’re coming from a 7 Plus? Im coming from a 6 Plus and am on the fence as to whether to wait for the X or just bite the bullet and get the 8/Plus. Im not actually that impressed with the so-called bezel-less display on the X. I see bezels that are just as wide as the side bezels on my phone. The cameras look the same as the 8 Plus’s. The AR experience should be the same. No VR for either. Same storage options. It’s not the giant leap forward that some thought it might be, IMO.

I’d just get the 8+.

there's some theories out there the cut out is a marketing move. So many bezel less screens out there, need to make it stand out from the crowd.

Just got the 8+. So far don't notice any noticeable differences compared to the 7. I haven't used the camera yet outdoors but this will obviously be much better.

The wireless charging is cool as hell. I'm interested in seeing how much slower it is compared to a wired charge.

I posted in this thread a couple days ago, but my post seems to have gotten lost in the migration, and I never got a reply, so I'm going to re-post my question.

Anyone have any thoughts on the HomePod? Anyone planning on getting it?

It seems like, from all reports, a high-quality speaker. But it doesn't seem substantially better than other wireless speakers in the same price range ($300-$400). And it doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity and doesn't support third party music streaming services (such as Spotify or Pandora).

The main selling point seems to be Siri integration. But I already have Siri on both my iPhone and iPad, and hardly ever use it. And the few times I have tried to use it, it either doesn't understand what I am saying, or can't do or tell me what I want. So the Siri aspect of it doesn't excite me that much. And I don't have any smart appliances in my house for it to control.

So...any other reasons why one might consider this thing?

I don’t see the usefulness in it either. I know someone who automated his house with Google stuff, but I don’t see a need for any of that. Bluetooth speakers are fine as a separate use case. Siri is erratic enough that I avoid it.

I definitely will outfit my home with a speaker system someday, but it’ll just use iTunes via Bluetooth to play music. Nothing fancy.

I don’t see the point of Alexa or HomePod or Google Home, aside from being a fancy toy for rich folk.

I probably can't offer a real positive opinion - I really don't like being Scotty in Star Trek 4, and trying to talk to my computer, as it just feels weird to me and I do not trust IoT whatsoever.

I just added a Bluetooth receiver/transmitter dongle into my home system, and just playback through my Klipsch Promedia system, or I just cast through Chromecast (which can either go into my soundbar or Klipsch). My soundbar also has Bluetooth; the Klipsch's are just better, not to mention the dongle will work in cars at work when travelling.

As far as the digital assistants, I don't particularly like any of them, but I've found Siri to be the dumbest one by far; my parents came out a couple weeks ago to visit, and I found Siri on my dad's iPhone 7 to be no better than when I had my 4S.

So I have an iPhone 6s that I love. That being said recently I have been dropping off on calls ALOT. Now if it was in the same area I’d be concerned but this is different locations and it’s always me ( I’ll go from full bars to nothing). I’ll sometimes be going past an area where I lost it before and won’t. I used to work in telecommunications working on cell towers so I know how that all works, so if it was antenna direction or strength it would be more consistent in the lost areas. Could this be my phone?
