He was picked two years ago fwiw.

I wanted to have one sinker/submarine pitcher for groundballs and a different look but most of the pure sinker pitchers I know offhand are too hittable and some aren't really bullpen guys. I considered one other submarine pitcher who's a bigger name but he's a pure pitch to contact guy who was a tad inconsistent in his career. Cishek's K/9 rate is also unexpectedly high for a submariner.

I thought the Assenmacher pick (among others) was more off the board personally. OTOH Romo a round or so ago was a great pick, I'd have picked him over most of the bullpen guys that went immediately before him.

Way back, I was debating between Minoso and Zack Wheat. Not until a few hours did I realize he still hadn't been taken. Insane that he fell this long. Good pick.

Really like the Magee pick. Has he ever been taken in one of these ATD? He was really good for someone who most baseball fans have never heard of.

The firpo pick intrigued me... what do you guys think of him? Lol

It's hard to compare the multi-inning pitch to contact relievers of the past to the swing and miss short guys now. The fact he can basically pitch starters' innings out of the pen is a plus, that makes a good long man in this format imo. I might have picked him or someone else still on the board as my long man if I didn't get Shantz. I'm not neccesarily in agreement with what a lot of teams did just putting a full-time SP in the long man role, but I'm a bit finicky on following roles.

Then again my idea of good and everyone else's has differed on several occasions. Which is I suppose to be expected cause I'm a noob lol. Plus I'm not big on advanced stats in general but I've been using OPS+ and WAR cause those are among the most cited here and easiest to understand, and WAR/JAWS help compare players across generations to a degree. Unless of course it's a guy who had a shorter prime.

If no one in front of me has picked by 12:30pm-1pm, I will go ahead and select. Picks are so varied now the likelyhood that I will have taken anyone's choice is super low anyway.

Thanks UL. I don't think he has, though I only did a quick scan through. And to be honest I hadn't heard of Magee until a couple hours before I made my pick. I sorted through some stats and I saw Magee's WAR7 sit above guys like Stargell, Wheat, and Brock as LFers.

Wish I could say I had him saved up in my back pocket as a secret weapon, but I only found out about him by chance.

My pitching depth is the best I've had thus far in 3 drafts...

Very curious to see how the judges score them.

I do like your team.

But in regards to best depth, I think that goes for every single team in the ATD. Just a big difference between 18 teams 2 years ago, 20 teams last year, and only 16 teams this year.
