Why is it that every year, or at least it feels like every year we are around the bottom of the league in shots? Right now we sit at 26th for shots / gm. Last year we ended up 27th. You can't score if you don't shoot.
You can't shoot without the puck, you need to get the puck first which means solid team D. If Bear can get the D and puck retrieval to be better, this stat will improve.

Let's wait until the season ends shall we. We can speculate and do the math every other game, but the end result is all that matters. Last year I thought we would be a bubble team, so maybe Utah is one year behind? But the easy part is over and really so are the built in excuses. I will judge BA and Bear at years end. Talk is cheap, winning is all that matters.
I agree, and they will likely both get this year to prove out where we are as a team. I am hopeful we can catch a playoff run from this team, we are due for some good fortune and a few breaks as a team. When was the last season the team over performed or was ahead of expectations? 2010-2012ish. We are due!

Not sure why we're just looking at the standings (don't forget they play in the hardest division). Just watch the games, they've been playing immensely better, particularly on team defense in the last 10 or so games. If Ingram didn't have as off of a season as he was having (possibly related to his injury) then maybe they don't dip as low as they did. Then again, they clearly had to adjust some things because Vejmelka was standing on his head and getting no goal support.

Real concern is Vejmelka getting overworked and slipping.

Penalties are down too, and it's the kind where someone is out of position and has to take one or sloppy defensive penalties. Too many men on the ice are hopefully gone too. Looks to me like the adjustments have happened.

All in all, good development across a number of vital young players (Cooley, Guenther, Kesselring). Getting to have 2 solid offensive lines for the first time in forever. A few issues still need to be sorted out, but you can't expect everything. Really excited to see how the defense continues to develop in the coming season or so and also this season once we get some injuries healed up.

Little concerned about Crouse, but he still plays well on the penalty kill. I think we just know what he is capable of, so it's disconcerting to see him turn into a blackhole on offense. I think Maccelli has improved a bit of late, but still isn't quite there.

Dangit BA, Ducks trade defenceman Cam Fowler to Blues for second-round pick. We could of easily paid that and more. 2 & 3 would of done it. You got beaten by your former boss

They're citing a radio interview from 6 weeks ago, so doubt this has legs. But just to consider it, I wonder if something around Crouse and Dach makes sense.
