This wouldn't be an 87 page thread if Habs fans (and fans of teams in Canada in general)didn't overreact to EVERY rookie they've ever had.

Celebrini is far more talented and impactful and not even a 1 page thread about him. If he was on a team in Canada, he would have a pt2 thread already and be in the Hall of Fame.

More impactful as a rookie now not more talented, higher floor, but I think Hutson's ceiling could be higher. Hutson has the same amount of points as Celebrini and he's a defensemen, and Celebrini has already missed how many games due to injury and he's only 18, but Hutson is just as talented. Availability is an ability.

Celebrini is 20 games into his NHL career, not sure I buy the argument that his missed games are indicative of a problem staying healthy.

Hutson has tons of talent but he's quite clearly not on Celebrini's level.

You think celebrini is gonna miss 30% of his games going forward? Because that's the only way Hutson is gonna match his scoring.

I don't know what's going to happen, I'm just stating the facts we have now. Hutson scored his first goal, almost scored again, you'd think this is a boost for a guy like him, we'll see. If Celebrini were to get hurt again, would you then consider him injury prone or "freak accident", lot of moving parts happening.

I wouldn't consider a rookie with no significant injury history to be injury prone, no.

Lot of sour in here. We wouldn't have as many post if all the haters and[ fans of American teams] didn't shit on every thread not about them.
There's a reason why there are so many post in this thread
One guy was picked 1st OA while the other player was picked 62nd OA.
One guy was rated to become a superstar while the other was considered a long shot to even play in the league.
Both are sitting with the same amount of points even though one is a forward while the other is a d-man.
One guy is turning heads in the hockey world. That same guy is now being mentioned as the biggest steal of the draft. Stop whining and get back to what is relevant.

Of course Hutson isn't going to match his scoring, nor does he need to in order to be considered equally talented and / or impactful. As we all know, Celebrini is a center, Hutson is a defenseman. smh

Is it? Such bullshit.
Of course it's tougher to do on a good team. If he was playing 20+ minutes a night and scoring 50+ points on a team playing well it would be more impressive.

Granlund from the Sharks wouldn't be on pace for 85 points on Vancouver. Or Karlsson putting up 101 points, wouldn't happen on a team with more expectations.

I thought this was obvious. I like Hutson too, not sure why this is controversial.

Did I say otherwise? I was responding to a post that was using the fact that they have the same number of points right now as evidence that they are equally talented.

I think it comes down to what happens with him defensively. Offensively, he's clearly got a mind for the game on the level of Hughes, Makar and Fox. It's just what happens defensively that determines if he's a perennial Norris contender, or just a top-4 defender. I'd be surprised if he truly became a plus in his own end, but not out of the question.

I understand the point you're making, but watching this guy set up teammates who can't score multiple times a game makes me think otherwise in this case lol.

If those passes were going to star players instead of Dvorak, Anderson, and Gallagher he'd have LESS points actually

this thread as been one page 1 since like the start of the season. Youd expect a bit more from player with this much hype.
22pts in 32 career gp as a 20 year old dman is exceptionally good.

Like others have said his teammates suck, if he was on a competent team he would have even more. He's far from a defensive stud but he's absolutely one of the most talented young players in the league, he is remarkable actually, just watch few games. If you don't see the talent you've got an agenda.

Not really
Celebrini is supposed to be good. He was consensus #1

Hutson is a tiny, longshot second rounder. He’s not supposed to be good. And the biggest reason why this thread keeps going and going is not because of the habs homers.

Its the habs hating twerps that are desperately trying to convince themselves that hutson isn’t actually good.

No one cares that San Jose has a great player outside of maybe a few la/anaheim/pacific fans

Montreal has fans from all over the league that hate Montreal more than they like their own team. Its weird because we’ve basically sucked for longer than most of these aforementioned twerps have been alive but here we are

Bumps like this are the exact reason why.

Someone like you, who hasn’t watched him play, looks at nhl.com, then comes on here to say “meh, not that great”

So thanks for participating?

I'd say stepping in as a rookie, being Montreal's best defenseman, and putting up 20 points in 30 games warrants some hype. What would you say is an appropriate amount?

No, they don’t. Montreal fans are like every original 6 team that think everybody hates their team. Honestly, the Canadiens are irrelevant to most people here.
Cool. I guess this thread keeps getting bumped by Montreal fans and I've been imagining it.

What team do you cheer for? Rhetorical question because I actually don't care.
